Actually this pic was taken in gmkillr's mom's basement. I found a dyno sheet that was good for 505 RWHP and the peculiar thing about it is their wasn't a 10 sec. timeslip to be found. Now that's some funny shit.

I've been a very active member on the Corral for a couple years. Any posts regarding street racing are forbidden there. If you want to stop people from posting about it, make it a site rule that it's not allowed. Simple.
If you want the appearance of not condoning it, yet allow people to post about it in other forums, just keep the Kill forum.

If this site intents to get alot bigger (not sure if this is Lou's direction) a "road kill" forum must be removed. It might be fine the way it is for the local garages we have on here, but I don't think ANY bigger name national companies would want there name associated with cars on this site that brag about illegal streetracing and its obvious worst consequences. :twocents:
I've never read a company's ad saying "helping people win illegal streetraces for 15+ years".

People are going to do it no matter what, its going to be around for forever..
I did it before along with everyone else. Everyone in this world has broken the speed limit once and the second your speedo goes over the listed speed limit its illegal.. So whether your racing someone and doing 80 or just driving 80 by yourself, they are both as dangerous..
I just wish some people were smart enough to go to a secluded area away from everyone at 1 am in the morning where only the people participating are the ones in danger..
Just my two cents

Yes, the ideal thing to do is take all races to the track but we've all been cruisin with some buddies, hit a light, and as soon as it dropped went straight to WOT and didn't let up until there was a clear winner. The whole thing is inevitable. If you don't like it don't go to the forum. Just like you wouldn't go into the Sports corner if you have no interest in sports. Main point is, keep the section. We all know it's against the law but it happens and we've all done it so just let it be.
But hey, what do i know? I'm only 17, that doesn't make me a responsibe adult............
Change it to something more like track kills or something of that nature. Brian and Frank are right here. Big companys dont want to be affiliated with activities like that.

We are all grown ups and know right from wrong, next we won't be able to talk about deer hunting or guns on here because they are dangerous and kill people.

To call people idiots for bragging about street racing on a dedicated car site with lots of fast street cars is more idiotic. I don't agree with street racing but lets face it, anyone with a fast street car has done it, if they say they did'nt then chances are they are lying. Why in the world would anyone need a high HP car to run around on the street with, after all what do you really need it for, I myself had a 670rwhp street legal car, did I need it? No. But I wanted it and from time to time I used all 670hp on the street. Wether there is a forum for it or not it still will happen and people will here about it one way or another.

for one, i think everyone is missing the point about this. deleting the road kill section isnt gonna stop street racing. thats stupid, and i dont think anyone had that in mind. its the fact that its illegal and many people lose their lives, innocent and guilty, from this and thats where the problem comes from. i dont see any reason why there should be a road kill section. for one, its never a legit race. two, you put people in danger that have no part in it at all. people are gonna street race, whatever. there should not be a section devoted to talking about it online. personally i dont think anyone cares. i never posted or looked it that section because it really doesnt mean jacksh!t. everyone can keep their little "fast and furious" races to themselves and talk about relevant things on the site. i really dont think some dumb little street race needs to be bragged about on an internet forum. run some legit races and then start talking, or get some lambo doors, a gaint wing, and a fart can and start talkin trash on another site.

I'm 48 and done many things I shouldn't have in a car. To this day if I'm working the early shift (5am) I'll let the Mustang rip to well over 100mph on the Parkway east on my way to work. There's very few cars on the road. Smart move? Probably not, but it gives me enjoyment.
There's a fine line between enjoying your car and being negligent.
I race at the track only.
As for getting rid of the Kill forum.
By having it, SteelCityStangs is condoning it. Intentionally or not.
Getting rid of it but allowing it in other forums would be disingenuous. Though it would be a solution to the problem of the site being perceived as condoning it. (You could say you can't police the site all day long.)
Completely banning any mention of it presents the problem of alienating some members. You also WILL have to police the site which will be a pain in someones ass.
It's a tough one. I'm interested in seeing the outcome.

Hey, this is Mrs. CST03. From an outsiders point of view, it looks to me that this site is just a much bigger version of guys standing around talking cars at a cruise or a party. If some guy starts talking about how he waxed somebody else on the way there, are you all really going to say "Well that was really irresponsible of you, please change the subject I really don't want to hear that" or walk away? If you are then you should definitely remove the forum. If you're not, then you would be hypocrites to ask that it be removed. (MR. I think the difference here is that there are not many(any?) places where a driver with his family, kids etc, can pull out and cause you to crash. Not saying that this makes it right, it just hits a nerve with lots of us when you hear about people dying from street racing who are friends, or local folks we might know.

I am 40 years old now and I have a lot to lose if I do something stupid so I am WAY more careful than I used to be.
Hell, I street raced all the time when I was younger. I probably got damn lucky to never have had a bad accident. I was there when Dave King flipped his Mustang over the guard rail at Crafton/Thornburg. Thank God nobody was hurt that time. Like I said, one day you luck might just run out.
I don't think I am being hypocritical to say that I think it's wrong. I know a lot more now than when I was young and stupid. Now I am just old and stu.. Ummm nevermind. LOL ;)

Speed is what makes street racing dangerous, so its not ok to race, but its ok to go ripping down the highway going that fast? ok...:jackit:
You're a young guy, right? If so, I doubt you need reading glasses. If comprehension is the problem, well, that's for a different place and time.
Now go back and reread what I wrote. I said what I do is probably not a smart move. No "probably" about it, I know it isn't a smart move. But it's an opportunity to enjoy my car. We all love speed.
Maybe that's the key word, opportunity. At 4:30am I know the chances of there being traffic or congestion ahead is very slim. So I weigh the risk and take the chance.
Earlier in this post you were joking with someone about them being Mr. Rt30. Anyone choosing their opportunity on Rt.30 isn't too bright IMO. Lots of curves, dips, red lights, hundreds of places for cars to pull onto the roadway, no place to recover if you lose control, sidewalk and telephone poles two feet off the road in most places, etc. The risk factor is multiplied xxxxxxxxxx times. A good example of youth, adrenaline, inexperience and bad judgement. Combine that with an automobile and you end up with news stories with gory pictures and innocent victims.
Now go back and reread the bottom 6 lines of my post. I'm looking at this from the point of view of the site owner(s).
I don't street race.
I cast my vote.
Whether it stays or goes doesn't affect me so much as it affects the owners of the site.

I think the difference here is that there are not many(any?) places where a driver with his family, kids etc, can pull out and cause you to crash. Not saying that this makes it right, it just hits a nerve with lots of us when you hear about people dying from street racing who are friends, or local folks we might know.

this is why most of the people on here that argue thats it wrong are mostly older and have been threw this. including myself, life is set for everyone so if you die racing or die eating a cheeseburger it was meant to happen even if it involved someone else.
going by the poll it's 50% right now....
im just stating that everyone keeps arguing on here bout this and it's pointless. this thread may even turn a few people on each other due to ther opinion's. this is an awesome site to chat/do whatever and it seems to be turning. :twocents:

On a side note, i don't see a problem with the section - I don't think it portrays SCS as condoning street racing. And I don't say this because i'm an avid street racer - I'm not... I'm in the same boat as Mark... owning a 700rwhp car, I love to open it up, but realize just how quickly things can go wrong on a vehicle that accelerates so rapidly... I won't open the car up in congested or busy area... Risk is inevitable, whether you're putting the hammer down, or gawking at something as ur driving down the road (everyone is guilty of this as well) - the key here is controlling your urges so that this risk can be minimized... I think some of us may do a better job than others - i like to think i do a very good job

We'll in that case maybe we should start an illegal drug use section. Maybe even a section where we can all speak freely of crimes that we have all commited. Hey, we've all done it so why not.............:duh::duh::duh:
See the point now? None of the big name national forums let this fly and if we want to expand and strengthen our site I feel that banning all speak of illegal activities immediately would lead us in this direction.
Yes lets implament another ban, that will surely stop people from doing and talking about it.:rotflol:. I say we also ban any talk of doing illegal mods to cars such as taking off the cats, after all it's for the children:rotflol:

Now, because of gas prices, the government is considering a NATIONWIDE 55mph speed limit... AGAIN. I remember the last time and I'm not that old. If you don't comply, the Feds pull your highway funding.
This country in and of itself (just like street racing that turned into the NHRA from the 50's) was founded with a pioneering, balls-to-the-wall spirit.
As stated above, people die doing stupid stuff every day and it's a horrible thing, but you can't put the FUN NAZI rules into effect for everything in your life. Why don't we all just strap pillows all over our bodies and live in a bubble? God forbid we go outside. We might get skin cancer from the sun or a meteor might randomly hit us. And, then drive a vehicle at all... oh my goodness. Maybe we should get rid of the "dirt section" too. Whizzing through the woods at 50mph on a dirtbike or quad is way more dangerous than driving your steel box down the road at 100mph.
All of you sound like a bunch of panzies even debating the subject. Like Clark said, why do we even own the cars we do. Just go buy a 97hp Honda and be done with it.
I'm going to E-Trade and pick up some Kimberly-Clark stocks right now. (Kimberly-Clark owns most of the tissue companies in America).

Good way to make a point.
I vote keep it. afterall where did raceing start? On the streets. Where will it always be? on the streets. If your lucky and get off work in time and can challenge someone to go to the track and get them to pay their way to a beating then by all means go for it. We have all done it and we will keep doing it with or without this so called section. It is like that old lady who sued mcdonalds for being burnt by hot coffeee. It is hot coffee what the hell did she expect. Same goes for street raceing. Maybe instead of bitching about this section and its bad influences that it may or may not have. Rather offer up knowledge to the younger crowd on safer aspects of street raceing. Us with a lil age on us know of certain places to do it in a rather safer enviroment.(i.e. less traffic and such) Afterall it is almost the same as flashlite drags. Will I street race(when the car is finaly done) sure I porbaly will. Am I an idiot for it? Probally in some peoples eyes. Look at kalitta, was that not a sactioned event and he is dead. It can happen anywhere at anytime. On the street you just have to make sure you dont kill bystanders(i.e. Traffic)

The BIG difference being when you're at a track, you and everyone there knowingly assumes that risk.
Joe Public with wife and kids in the car assumes the usual risk of everyday driving. He does not figure there's a chance of him getting plowed into by one or two 10-13 second cars having a speed contest on public roads.
I don't think anyone, (not me at least), is saying, "Don't do it, you'll die." To hell with YOU, it's the innocent bystanders that get the raw deal. If you think it's your right to make them assume that risk, you're an idiot and a self centered moron.
Edit: I don't mean you ,as in "you" in particular.

I understand you point. That is why I said we all know of certain places that have a minimal if not no risk to "Joe Public" being at risk cause of our choice. Pretty much why it should only be done late at nite and in those places. Not, saying I havent done stupid shit at the wrong time on the street. I'm not totally innocent but, after some well deserved counceling from certain people I made sure to only do it where and when it is safer for the innocent bystanders. I think alot of street races deaths occur cause they don't know when to quit (i.e 1/4 mile) and they just keep going til someone fooks up or gets scared.

Well said:goodidea:. This is just another example of feel good legislation. It's just like everything else in this country, when something bad happens people start wanting to take something off of everyone else just to make everthing seem ok, this is called liberalism and it's the very disease that's ruining our country, and I hope it does'nt ruin a great car site.

i see what your saying, but unless Joe public grew up in a bubble you should assume that driving has its risks, it doesnt matter if its my mustang going 80, a honda going 80, or a semi going 80, its gonna hurt.

i know what your saying, those kids went to my school. I just dont think that this particular incident ( seeing as it happens every minute) should be the spark that gets rid of the kill section. All my point is, is what would it change?
