all i heard on the news was that it was a red one. its sad what happens to people these days. no one should be killed at 19, just sad. Some low life sack of shit feels that its ok to kill someone that actually contributes to society. I hope they find and fry his ass.

INSANELY CRAZY

Being from Homestead I see this all too often. Not two weeks before someone was shot and killed in front of Eat N Park at the Waterfront. There was also recently a shooting further up the hill.
I'm going to get a little sidetracked here for a bit.
All I hear on the radio is how The Waterfront was supposed to revitalize Homestead. Well from where I sit the planners of the WF went out of their way to separate the actual town from the WF. They also made a tax deal that I'm pretty sure to this day they don't pay any taxes to the borough of Homestead. What we got was a traffic headache and a bunch of lies about how the Eighth Avenue area would be revitalized.
Yes Homestead has had its problems through the years, but much of what occurs at the WF is committed by people that come from outside the area. Naturally Homestead wears the black eye though.
The original plan was for the WF to gradually integrate with Eighth Ave. 7th & 8th Aves.' were supposed to get new buildings and businesses. Instead the WF planners built mounds with trees planted, fences, and other obstructions to keep the two as separate as possible. So in essence Homestead became "the bad area you had to travel through to get to the WF", rather than the area that was "saved" by the WF.

I feel bad for the kid that was shot, and his family. Hopefully the scumbag that took a life has to pay with his own.

He was from my hometown of West Mifflin. I had just left the waterfront 15 minutes before the shooting happened. Was at sing sing. Oddly i was in the Lowes theater when that shooting occured.

Im sure investigators will do their best and ill do my best on my end. I dont know what or if anything can be done to make the waterfront safer but i hope it changes something.

It's a shame the "Stop Snitchin" trend hit Pittsburgh hard. Investigators have a hell of a time getting any useful information out of residents that live in the bad parts of town. Homicide clearance rates have become a real problem for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

The new intelligence task force and "community oriented" officers are a joke. Ravenstahl follows the broken windows theory, essentially meaning he is an advocate of bulldozing the whole neighborhood down...but his power is limited. City council is ineffecient and/or corrupt. To put it lightly, there is nothing anybody can do right now except hope that somebody will come to their senses and not commit crime on any given night.

To put it into perspective...

Pittsburgh owes $1.68 billion in total debt
Pittsburgh pays $83 million toward its debt every year
Pittsburgh spent $58 million more on average than it took in

I like that idea. Get rid of all the crack shacks and whore houses. This city needs something. We have all these run down properties laying around everywhere. They just breed crack heads.

The only problem with that is they don't plow the houses down with the dirt baggs in them so they just relocate and become someone elses problem.

You are correct on that one. Should not even give warning. Just charge 'em. I was on a couple sites in the past few years. They go through and "remove" the people then demo. You would not believe what you would see in these places. Very disgusting. I dont even feel safe with the Tyvek suit on.
