Im looking for ideas from everyone on having a car show sometime this upcoming summer. I would like to have an all Ford show with some trophys and maybe do a fund raiser for a local charity. Im going to inquire at the Century 3 Quaker Steak and Lube to see if they would be interested in letting us do the show in their lot. Any ideas?

that lot may be too small for the turnout you may get lookign to give trophies and whatnot. Robinson QSL i think would definately be a better idea because of the much larger parking area

If you wanted to keep it in the West Mifflin area, the lot directly towards 51 from Best Buy is pretty big, almost always empty. Unless you were looking for a small sponsorship from them. Hey wait a minute are Lincolns included?!? Being that you Mustang guys all use the Lincoln 4.6L I can't see why not?;)

I'm up for it. I met some other SCS members at the Robinson QSL, and that lot is definitely big enough, if we get there early enough.
Any ideas on when in the summer? Can't speak for everyone, but I will definitely be in Myrtle Beach at the end of July.... Also gotta watch out for the Carlisle All Ford Nationals at the beginning of June.

Lou,
there were two all-ford car-shows in the Baltimore area where I lived. There were both at Ford dealers FWIW.
The QSL in Robinson does have a large parking.

i can talk to northland ford/linc/merc about doing a show, i am sure he would be into it. the owner has a few nice fords personally(67 fastback, race prepped cobra and a ford gt)
also, the people at hereford & hops would like to do a few shows in 07 and i am sure we could work something out with them( the owner there has a saleen)

Does anyone know Jim who was/is the owner of Rita's italian ice near south park? I used to attend cruise-ins at his place years ago and he had a nice black convertible. I'm sure if he is still around and the owner he would be receptive to the idea of an all ford event. Its just a thought.

While QSL in Robinson has a large parking lot, we might also consider parking at the Sam's club right next door. They have 2 huge lots and the '2nd' lot is a short walk from QSL. They actually had about 20 RV campers setup in that lot one day, so it is big enough for a car show. Maybe we could make arrangements with Sam's Club? Just an idea

Can we have a burn out contest? :p
I suggest the charity be breast cancer or the Koman Foundation. Ford has this Warriors in Pink campaign going and I think it would be a good tie-in. (Anyone have a pink Mustang? ;) )
Besides, most of the guys on this forum love :flash:

There used to be weekly car cruises at QSL a couple of years ago. It was one of the larger ones and usually hosted by a different car club each week. Went from QSL all the way down the parking lot to the end and even parts of Max'n Ermas and Sam's. Heard that the municipality pulled the plug due to the rowdiness and then came up with some zoning issue. Unless things have changed.... Considering how grid lock can occur at the drop of a hat in that area (what a freakin' nightmare!), I'd suggest someplace more accessible and not so congested.

I think it would be a great spot to have one. Once the cars are in the lot, there shouldn't be any concerns of grid-lock. Then we can head over to QSL for a couple cold ones :laughing1:

I am in for sure!! QSL in Robinson would be nice. The lot is huge!! I just have not been there in a couple years for a show due to the import assholes causing problems and them shutting it down. I should have mine done by then anyways.

What about Dave and Busters at the Waterfront. They use to have them but they closed them down to a couple of stupid people ( Ricers ). But I think being a paid car show to help a local charity, they let us do it. Lou, would you like me to contact them? I also know the GM at Struman & Larkin Ford in West Mifflin and I could call him to see if they would sponsor us with trophies.

Dave-n-Busters sounds good too. In my opinion, I think we should stay away from car dealerships. We want people to see our cars and possibly donate to the charity drive. If we take-over a car lot, you might only see a handful of people all day, BUT if we take-over a parking lot like QSL or D&B, then we get ALL the patrons going in and out to browse our cars and mingle with SCS. Make Sense?

:twocents:
At one time Shultz Ford was interested in hosting a show. If your other leads don't pan out, you might try them, however location-wise it might not be as centrally located as wanted.
There was a Mustang club (who shall remain nameless) who held an annual show at a local car dealership. Each year was a different charity based on the chairperson's preference. Was quite successful the one year. I heard they donated well over $1K to the charity of that year.
Items to consider to please the crowd: goody bags to pre-registratants or to the 1st nn registrants, dash plaques, t-shirts, a dj, fund raising games, chinese auction items...

Yes, I have been to shows at mcCrackin. They were only full with the 'show participants'. The purpose of this SCS show (i think) is for SCS members to gather, introduce SCS to the public, and raise money from patrons and SCS members for charity.

Try Wexford. They host plenty of different shows every week. Imports one week, pittspeed the next. Bike night. They always have a theme. We could be one of them. I could talk to Larry Wind over here at wolts and wind ford. He might be into something. He is really a nice guy. We chit chat once and a while when I see him. They have a HUGE lot.

LOL...despite the goofy location and the slow service, I thought the QSL wings were too greasy and not worth all of the hype. I've tried their wings 3x and each time I thought they were worse than the previous sampling. I can humbly say I make better wings (no secret, I bake them to a crisp and use the recipe on the bottle adding more hot sauce:butter ratio) and they aren't those puny "quail wings".
Hooters. Well, they were never known for the food! The only thing I hate more than a stupid woman is a smart woman who acts incredibly stupid with a bad acting job.
I've yet to meet 1 person who had decent service or decent food at the Hard Rock.
Wings? Primanti's was so-so. I've had some very good wings (and some mediocre ones) at Elliot's BBQ on Rt 51 south.
Actually, the best wings I've ever had was on Big Coppitt Key at the Purple Porpoise Pub. They were grilled. The chef at the time (ex-con) wasn't giving up the recipe for the marinade or sauce and no one was going to ask. :veryhappy:
If you're a foodie like you sound you might be, you know that THE best places are usually holes-in-the-wall. I'd rather go to a privately owned restaurant than to a chain. You might pay more, but it's been my experience to have better food and, usually, better service.

Well, you kinda hit the nail on the head there. I love food. You are 100% correct on the hole-in-the-wall places. There is one place on Rt 51 called The Dog House. I must say, they have THE best wings. Down right, they are the best. The birds make for a great time. The owner has a couple African Greys. They have an enormous vocabulary!!! They also host a few car cruises and have a nice sized lot.:) Location is kinda far out though. Right after I-70 on Rt 51. We just got a "new" restaraunt here in carnegie called Durans. Its actually my neighbor. His former joint was called Cumps. He has some fantastic wings and many flavors to choose from. tuesday is the wing night. .10 I believe. My wife makes the same wings you make. Bake 'em and follow the recipie on the Franks bottle. Yummy.

Hmmmm... is this turning into a food thread or do we need to start a SCS supper club?

Yep, looks like this turned into the official wing thread:yes: , all of penn-monroes food is pretty good. They fall into the catagory of little shithole bar/restaurant with good food:awsome:

im also a huge pizza fan. its kinda hard to find a good pizza joint around here.
One of my good friend's family owns The Dog House. They closed it down a couple of years ago, so you won't be getting any wings!
That sucks. I had no idea. Can we get the recipoe for the sauce??????

Hmmm... Then the quest is on for the "Official Steel City Stangs Wings"? We'll have to travel far and wide, sampling wings... Might be a tough job. Can our cholesterol levels handle it? :slaphappy:
Pizza...geez. I used to think Bella Luna's pizza was the sh1t, but the past couple of times we had it, it was disappointing. The crust wasn't as crispy. I actually like the pizza from Leonard Labriola. They make a daily pizza fresca which goes FAST - chopped tomato, light dusting of cheese with a touch of basil.
Wick (Rob) do you know if Carlo's Pizza is still alive and kicking in Oakdale (on old Rt 22)? They used to make a fabulous white pizza, but I'm going back to the 1980s in my memory.
Pietro's Pizza Pub on Banksville had some decent pizza. Haven't been there in a few years.

Hey guys , most of you dont know me , My name is Ricco , i have the slow red mustang at the track rentals all the time. I am currently at wyotech and could prolly work somehting out with the president ,and coordinaters to have a show there. I may even be able to work somethign out like for instance, make a donation , and get a dyno run, we have 2 chassis dynos and an awd dyno, and the ability to do sct tunes. But no matter where the show is you can count me in.

I know a guy who's relatives own a restaurant in Pittsburgh Mills. He said that they have access to around 300 parking spaces and they would make the flyers to pass around. Also, If your in the car show, you will get a discount or free aptatizers (sp) with a meal purchase. He also mentioned about having chick's in bikinis walking around with refreshments for sale.... I told him I would post this up for him to see if SCS would be interested. Any thoughts.....:pinkthumb:
On a side note, they are hosting the PGA guys when they come to town.

I didn't want things to get out of control. The big guy has to deal with people bitching all day at work. He doesn't need more headaches over Avatar's.
