ok so i borrowed my moms digital camera (nothing special), an i did an exhaust vid an took some pics to post them up on here. i know how to put a pic in a thread when your creating a thread etc, but how do i get the pics an videos on the computer, i know a usb cord but what do i do when i plug it in an do i need to load it up on something like youtube or putfile an how do you do that? im new at this so all the help i can get will help, thanks guys:thmbsup:
Yeah you plug it into the computer, then usually your computer will detect the camera (make sure its on).
import the video with windows movie maker and you should get a bunch of clips made when you're done. Put all the clip(s) into the video timeline at the bottom, and trim out the footage you don't want. You can put a title at the beginning and have it fade in and out and all kinds of crazy stuff if you want, but there is something to be said about a short and to the point video - you won't take crap for your editing style that way :)
when you're done with the editing, go to file ----> save movie file (or something like that). You're also going to want to reduce the quality of the video to save yourself some upload time with youtube. 1 or 2 mbps is plenty good enough quality for you to watch the video on your computer full size without much quality loss.

when you have the camera hooked up to the computer with a usb cable, turn the camera on. with most camera's, when you do this, you'll see the power light come on on the camera but the screen won't come on as usual because it knows its pluged into a computer. so if your screen doesn't come on don't panic and think you broke it lol.
Next, the computer should automatically detect the camera. On a Windows computer, a little balloon should pop up in the bottom right saying something along the lines of "New usb device found blah blah blah". Wait a little while and the computer should automatically bring up a window asking you what you want to do (If after a while it doesn't do this, go to the next paragraph). In this window, you'll want to select "Open folder to view files". This lets you open up a window with all the data on the camera's memory card, just like opening a folder on your computer. from here, you can drag pictures out of that folder and on to your desktop or wherever you want on your computer. It will copy them to your computer when you do this so you don't have to worry about them being deleted from your camera.
If your computer doesn't bring up a window asking you what to do, do this: select Start from the task bar at the bottom of the screen, then click on "My Computer". in this window it'll have things like "Hard drive (C)", "DVD rom drive (D)" etc. if the computer detected your camera, it will also have an icon called something like "Removable disk (F)" or it might even show the name of your camera like "Cannon Powershot" or whatever camera you have. Just click on that and it will open a window with all the data on your camera's memory card. from here you can drag things off of the camera and onto your desktop or wherever you want on your computer. Like mentioned above, it copies the images to your computer, it won't delete them off of your camera so you don't have to worry about taking them off your camera.
