I don't know too much about this group, but it looks like it will be a cool show coming here, kinda like the NMCA/NMRA style cars. They have an Open Comp class for 9.00 and slower cars, bracket style. The site is:

I was checking them out. Some cool classes that should bring some fast cars.

I may hit up the Open Comp class.

I'm looking forward to seeing the cars, even if I don't race. I loved it when the NMCA was at PRP in '03. I hope this show is even better.

why was the NMCA only a 1 yr deal? money? that was one of my favorite events ever held at prp...

If I recall correctly, I think the NMCA, in that iteration, went 1 more year, and in '04 raced at Quaker. I think it was a schedule conflict... NMCA couldn't/wouldn't commit to a date, so PRP had to move forward without them. Tony DePillo headed NMCA then, and I think in '05, Edelbrock got the NMCA name somehow. DePillo then changed his organization's name to NSCA (National Street Car Assoc). Edelbrock brought more sponsors and payouts to the racers, so the NSCA folded last year. It was a bummer. The original NMCA from the mid to late 90s was awesome.

One of the big things I heard was the lack of scales at the track, Alot of the classes have strict weight limits and without a scale it left the door open.

Lack of scales at PRP is a huge thing not to have. That and NMCA is owned by Promedia which also runs NMRA. That wasn't the case back when they ran at PRP. NMCA/NMRA run at much better tracks. Maybe once PRP is redone they will be able to handle an event of that caliber again.

To be honest with you, PRP is no way the worst track ive been to. There are a few NMRA stops that are less of a facility. Lack of scales and some nessesary equiptment are PRP's down fall.

I have a feeling the blue car will be out of retirement for this race, it is too close to home to pass up some real racin. :cool1:

I think I'm going to watch this one. Fees are a little too rich for my blood to not know what purse I'm running for, and doesn't look like there's round money. I am looking forward to it. I dig fast door cars, period. Here's some of the class descriptions:

Mega Street (ANY tire size, all power adders ok!), Outlaw 10.5 (10.5W tire, power adders allowed!), Super Sonic Street (10.5 non W tire, nitrous, single turbo, centrifugal superchargers allowed, OEM automatic type transmissions only, mufflers required), Radical Radial (DOT radial, maximum 12" tread width, 3200 pound base weight, stock type suspension, no wheelie bars, factory automatic transmission with converter, or OEM stick shift with single disk clutch, any one type power adder)

Open Comp is 80% payback. With a good turnout that class could end up paying out the most.

Tempting, so very very tempting to run. Bad tranny or not it still goes into 3rd good at high rpm.

Once again, the solution is MORE RPM :D

Just picked up some race gas tonight, slicks are mounted and ready for duty. Common guys, can't beat hardcore racing in our own back yard.

I'll be there either beating the living hell out of my tranny or filling up my camera card with pics and video. Gonna take car to work tommorrow and put few more miles on clutch.

There is no racing today, only parking/registration. Racing is tomorrow and Sunday. I *believe* all qualifying is tomorrow. Sunday, 1 time trial session for Open Comp, then eliminations in all classes.

Ed, what's up with the tranny?

Mangled a synchro on Aug 20(tnt) on either the 12.58 or 12.54 pass. Still drivable but haven't tried a pass yet on it. I may this weekend. Still talking myself into racing. Either way I will be at track saterday and will see what I do when I pull to gate.

Just got done loading the car and just about the whole garage and the grill. Lots of pop, burgers and dogs. Everyone is welcome to stop by.

For once the mountains may help. Looks like Hanna won't be able to cross over and is following them on eastern side up out of the Carolinas. Cloudy and dry will make for a nice day.

The event has been canceled for the remainder of the weekend. There wasn't enough USCN cars to have the event. Bummer, because there were some sweet sweet rides here.

Holy cow. Another wasted weekend for "us" and then no show. Too bad.

Ya sucks. USCN guys were cool hope they have better showing in Virgina. We had cars there from Canada, Massachusetts etc. Headsup guys were asked to keep it to 1/8 since there was no reason to push the cars hard and end up wreckign or breaking. There were some 4.30 passes lifting. Some very cool rides.

I managed 1 somewhat clean pass out of 4. 12.77@107 so not to bad considering the humidity which was crazy early on.

Only on that pass, on the others it wouldn't shift. Trans is done and so am I for this year unless I get another trans.
