tips on painting rims???

ok so im getting ready to paint bullit rims...i have painted interior pieces etc an they are turned out great but never with rims...i want them to look good i did some researching and heres what i found to use...please help me on tips if what i write it not as great

400 grit sand paper
2 cans of sandable primer
2 cans of duplicolor WHEEL paint
2 cans of duplicolor wheel clear coat
masking tape (tape off the lip if i wanted or the tires w/flashcards)

ok so i clean the wheels with soap an water...then spray water on the rims an wet sand them to get all the paint/chemicals off
then i wash them again with soap an water to get all the sanding dust off etc
then i spray primer on them let each coat dry for about 10-15 minutes
then i do about 3 coat of primer an begin painting an paint about 4 coats of the wheel paint an let dry for 15 minutes each then put 4 coats of wheel clear on an let sit 15 minutes each then put them in shade an let them dry for a day or so an they are done...

i got this from the research i did for painting wheels...is this seem pretty good or am i missing or doing a step wrong

thats exactly what im doing right now. the key is to take your time and pay attention to small detaily. prime until you get every nick and scratch out and make sure to not get any grease from your hands on anything before painting. i uses a rag with a small bit of rubbing alcohol before painting to make sure.

you painting your new rims already bro?
you rub the alcohol all over after your prime b4 you paint?

yup. got em yesterday. painting em today. i use rubbing alcohol before i prime. and after i sand the primer before i paint. gimme a call if you have any questions.

lightly wet sand between each coat of primer so you get it smooth. it make take more coats of primer than what you have researched depends on condition of the wheels. also check w/ the paint you are using and find out the flash time. thats how long you should wait between coats.

I painted the rims on my truck black. I just did pretty much what you said, although I used a shit ton more primer/paint/clear. The duplicolor wheel stuff is legit though, its held up great on my truck with very minimal maintenance

Mbh....did u have 2 take ur rims off an redo them w the duplicolor wheel spray? i wana do them good the 1st time so i dont have to touch them up etc

bought a second set of factory rims that were new (meaning they were painted silver in the center with machined lips like I masked off & cut around with an exacto knife to make it a nice fit.

Lots of tape, lots of spray, lots of time. Not necessarily in that order. Don't do them inside your garage unless you plan on getting high lol

haha no i dont do them in the garage...thats where punisher sleeps haha..ok so this seems to be easier than i thought

just do the steps i said but rub alcohol b4 i prime, an after i prime b4 paint...then do the paint steps etc let dry an bada bing bada boom there done

heres my dilemma....i have the bullits an i dont want the polished lip...im gunna paint the rims all one color instead of masking off bs etc....i leaning towards all white.........what you guys think? either all white or all black.

i think it would look good white on a white car

i tried to get someone else on here to do that but they went black

the only problem is the clear coat is peeling off the lip on one of them....how do i get the clear coat off with out sanding the crap out of the lip an messing the lip up?
