my wifes 02 has an issue I cant figure out. It runs great until aprox 3500 rpm then it falls on its face . I changed the fuel filter twice checked the injectors and cleaned all the fuel lines with air and cleaner. the pump is working I wonder can a efi vapor lock it feels like its starving for fuel.ANY ideas?

try unplugging the mass air sensor and see what it does

Cleaning the Mass air flow sensor may fix it too.

Check the fuel pressure off of the rail. It looks like a tire valve stem. It should be close to 40 psi. If it under 30 and the filters new. It could be a pump. Idk its hard to diagnose somthing without actually seeing the car.

also try unplugging the fuel rail pressure sensor. I doubt it would blow on a 6 cyl, but hey it could happen I blew my FRPS about a month ago and the car was completely undriveable and I had it flat bedded home. Some guys experience symptoms similar to what you're experiencing though, but thats mostly 03/04 cobra guys where the part has a tendency to fail.

it feels like a clogged cat but like I say they are gone , Im gonna drop the tank check the pump and clean the inlet screen after I check the pressuse at the rail. the car is run pretty hard I just hope something is'nt hurt if it is Im goin with a carbed pushrod plant and a c4 I have left over.

I was thinking the same thing as Bo. Sounds exactly like what happened when my car blew the fuel rail pressure sensor. Would drive fairly normal under light throttle, but anything over about 1/3 throttle would bog horribly.

Thats what was wrong with my old toyota pick up DD when I first got it. It was a pain in the A@# but glad it was a cheap fix. Although a lil easier on my truck due to no need in jacking the truck up. Glad its fixed though
