Car looks good Ron. Plans for the '66? Plans for the new GT?

Whats the plans?
Well I need to do a lot of work on the car. Lots of detailing - might have it wet sanded and buffed. The wiring harnesses may need replaced as the brake lights and headlights are temperamental. The brakes are a little soft - I think I have some air in the system. The dash lights are a little weak - I think I have a weak ground somewhere. My headliner needs replaced. Windows need adjusted. And the list goes on and on. I'd love to put a cage in it - maybe with a rear tray like the '65 R-models had. And I'd like to build a 408 and keep the Paxton on it...but that means a new tranny and rear and lots of $$$...

Took advantage of the nice day to finally seal my driveway. By trade I am an "IT Guy," but I love to learn to do things myself instead of paying people. I can work on my cars, remodel a house, lay bricks and pour cement, but I think this shit is better left to the professionals! It turned out decent for my first shot but I def learned what to do the next time.

Nice work there Dan - looks like fun!! Today I went down to West Virginia and picked up a nice clean hatch for our 2001 Explorer. Ours is rusted out underneath - not sure why - the rest of the car is pretty clean. Spent the afternoon cleaning it up and dismantling it so I can strip it and get it ready for paint. Sure was a beautiful day. The '66 still is a dusty mess, waiting for me to get a few other things done.

Hey Ron.........whatever happened to that mystery car??
Well, I decided not to buy it. Owner wanted more than it was worth in its current state. It was a really solid 1966 Toronado - that needed a motor rebuild, tires, brakes, exhaust, wet sand, and reassembled. I figured I should spend the time - and money - working on my '66 Mustang instead.

At least you have some privacy... During the 1st gulf war the shitters were a homemade little outhouses made frome plywood and there were 4 to an outhouse so you sat elbow to elbow with someone else who was pinching one off. At port so many people were using them that they sometimes had little poo mountains sticking up through.

Pretty common here in plants is what we call a 6x6 ... three squaters on both sides and a step up trough on the end, can accomidate 12 at a time, all in plain view. I've seen the mountains, my favorite is wall spray.

Thank goodness my hotel is properly outfitted. Everything else is a question of how bad do you really have to go ;)
I just hit a deer on racetrack road. Deer ran away, I've got a headlight out, bumper is cracked and its sagging down off to the side. Big freaking buck too. I've never hit a deer, seeing the damage is minimal should I even bother Turing it in to my insurance? My Raner is junk anyway.

92 f250 7.3 pre powerstroke - $3000 (irwin)
I should start by saying that if you are looking for a "Pajama party Barbie truck" you my friend, should keep looking. If you are looking for a short description of to the beast before you, I can offer you two words "MEAT & POTATOES". This is the All American chariot of the free world.
You are not dealing with any ordinary, cookie cutter truck son. This thing was forged from a single block of all American Tungsten Steel. Real sturdy! From that day forward my life has never been the same. pull yourself off that couch and see if you can handle this ford f250 7.3.
So if you are looking for a rice burning hatch back, a solar powered liberal mobile, or even a Hyundai crossover keep on looking my friend this thing is a piece of red white and blue Americana Machinery.
This baby's pulse is pumping 7.3 liters of uncensored raw fuel through her v8 nuclear power plant. And rest assured this is no metro feminine automatic. . .you command her to obey, with your calloused hand planted firmly on the shifter. And she will obey, the first time, every time. If you can't handle your stick shifter, or reach the clutch pedal, you better not ferry skip over here wanting to test drive her. If you stall her out, you can count on getting hit in the face with a piece of re-bar and sent back where you came from.
It has A/C but are you kidding me. . ..Really! If you want to blow the sweat off your brow, you do it the old fashioned way: windows down. "What if it rains?". . .You whiney bitch! I told you to stop reading. . . Any man who drives this beast doesn't give a damn about rain. Not even skin melting acid rain, Cause he's already dripping wet in blood, sweat, dip spit, and fish guts.
If you are looking for the kind oftruck that has to be pansy parked in the garage, so the "bed doesn't get wet and soggy" Then you should plant your Obama sticker on some Japanese piece of shit. Cause this thing has drain holes in the floor and rhino lined to let the blood drain out from the buffalo you just killed, with your bare hands. Because you are William Wallace from Braveheart and when you get home you can leave your "sissy sponge glove car wash kit" in the pink bucket it came in. Go ahead and spark up your 6000 psi heated pressure washer on the dually trailer in your man cave, cause you are Tim Gillespie and you can pressure wash your truck on the inside.
And forget about putting one of those " big cummins" stickers on this machine cause when you're spotted in this American Classic there will be no questions, no further explanation required, people will understand and get out of your way. . . . .real quick.
If you think you're ready to park this panty hauler on your tract of land. If you buy this truck you better go get your old lady ready for some damn changes around your lair, cause this shit will be happening. What will be Happening? Glad you asked. . ..

But if you think you're going to get to whip this mule you better pony up Three Thousand Dollars. . .American Cash. I'm not selling you this truck unless you are clearly a pure blooded American Species, so don't even think about it.

Also have bread raising to go in the oven soon. Got a pot of ice tea brewing. The house is smelling good today!!!

If it was going to be my only car, I'd look at the Focus. But I just want a Go Cart and the Fiesta seems like a better Go Cart. The Focus ST has been around about a year, but the Fiesta just came out a few months ago. Also, as a hot hatch they'll likely get beat from day one,so even a low mile one could have suffered from a 19 year old behind the wheel. Finding a used Iesta already would be tough. A two year lease looks like $2500 down and 200/month if I stay under 10,500 year. Can't drive for much less than that!

I'm not looking to pick on you today - lol - but i think you'll find the article below interesting. ..... I've read a lot about this over the last several years, and though it's not unanimously agreed upon, i think it's the majority opinion among scientists

IMHO, the earth through cycles. It is going to heat up and cool down every XX,000 years, regardless of what mankind does... But industrialization has likely caused the next cycle to happen at a more rapid pace....

Hopefully the spring/summer is a lot better than last years considering last year was terrible for the most part. I only put on ~1000mi or so due to rain and traveling for work all the time. Fortunately, I'll be able to drive it some more this year. But the unfortunate part is my position was eliminated from work, so thats why I'll be able to drive it lol. At least I'll be back in school though so I don't feel completely worthless :(

There are many definitions of a "tragedy"....I don't consider a famous person dying of a drug overdose and found with the needle in his arm a tragedy. I'm tired of hearing about the latest "star" Philip Hoffman being called a tragedy. Maybe it sounds cold and harsh but that's how I feel. Soliders dying, school shootings, any life cut short due to unforeseen circumstances out of their control, and many other similar disasters.....that's a tragedy.

I'm with you on that one Dan. I don't typically pay much attention to the news and what not, but I agree. He has experienced drug addictions in the past, gotten help and then relapsed... time and time again. I think that any deaths of a famous person is severely overplayed to be honest. Soldiers dying in combat, school shootings, tsunami's, tornado's.. those are indeed tragedies. I mean I know i've gotten caught up in some stars deaths, most recently Paul Walker's. I was sad to hear that he had passed, because he seemed like a good dude and that was crappy, but again the most recent death of Hoffman is getting ridiculous..
So anyways, how much snow do you guys think we're going to get? I'm hoping not to see the 2-4" they have for down here in Washington. I'm tired of the snow and the cold :(

I agree with all of the above. I dont feel it's a tragedy, but I am sad that the people who were entertained by his roles and movies will no longer be able to see new ones, and for that he is selfish.
But the true tragedy lies in the little kids who are sick and die, soldiers who die for this country, uncontrollable circumstances, etc etc etc.

So, here's my rant for the day......
My wife comes downtown and can't find anywhere to park - i tell her that i'll park the car, just go inside and stay warm.... I find a spot on Stanwix St. downtown, but i'm not real sure if its somewhere i'm allowed to park - there's multiple "no parking" "2 hr. parking" and "loading zoen" signs all over this one block stretch of the road.... its about 11:55.... so, i run into Fernando's, the little sandwich shop across the street, and ask if I can park there - they tell me its just fine, go ahead... So i come out of the shop, cross street and go straight to the automated pay station... plug in my info, and press green button to pay... the machine jams... gotta be kidding me... so i hit the button a couple more times, and its frozen... so i walk to the end of the block to see if there's another one (what it says to do on the machine if it doesn't work). Nothing, look around the corner - nothing. So i call the Pittsburgh Parking Authority - they look in their system, and right as i had called, the charge went through... it was 12:02, so i was covered until 1:02. Come out to the car with my wife at 12:50, and there's a prking ticket on my window, with a timestamp of 11:58.... ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? This dude must have snuck up behind me while i was on the phone wiht Pgh Parking Auth or something.... or been waiting in his car, and when I went into the sandwich shop to ask a question, hurried up and ran out.....

He was the fat slob sitting by the window eating a sandwich in the shop. He waited until you came in ran out, ticketed you, then ran back in.. Realistically, those people are a bunch of jack wagons. I can't stand going downtown for anything, and I get irritated when I have to. I feel your frustration. Everytime I go downtown usually something bad happens. Like someone wrecks into my car. But don't call anyone for a hit and run, because the bicycle police show up and treat you like a criminal and ask you what the big deal is and what the problem is and why I even bothered to call them.. Last time I checked, wrecking into a car and leaving the scene was a hit and run and you're supposed to report it.. Damn downtown ranting has got me going now..
I didn't realize you had to wait 48 hours to appeal that though. That's ridiculous. What a bunch of hacks!
I used to pay my parking tickets at Cal U in pennys. Still cheaper than parking up there. Pittsburgh is a mess when it comes to parking.

I'm not even sure how i missed him..... I would have thought they have to check the electronic meter to see if someone has paid, but it must all link automatically to some sort of hand-held machine that prints the ticket.....
I've heard in other areas of downtown with these electronic meters that they're watching like a hawk.... so it doesnt make sense to me why all the money was spent on installing these, when you're going to have people sitting there watching them.....
I hope he's there again the next time i'm out there.... i think i'm going to talk to him.... see if he think's he's cool in his fake wanna-be police officer uniform....
the 48 hour wait is because they do online hearings now.... and the ticket isnt' in the system yet. not surprising.

You guys must be bored with the easy life, you can't really be that malcontent!? I've lived and worked in other cities and Pittsburgh is easily one of the most livable cities. Sure it has its share of inconveniences, but they are outweighed by its beauty and its down to earth old world charm. It's not a rural utopia with gun toting bible thumpers, free parking, a dollar store, and supermarket. But that stuff is all over rural America, nothing at all special about that. Travel as much as I do and those places flash by the hundreds and leave no special impression. They are in fact so boring and repetitive they make no impression at all!
Pittsburgh is a very cool city.

Ray Romano is on Conan tonight and he is absolutely KILLIN' it !!
nice! I always loved the show Everybody Loves Raymond..... i just found it so comical..... maybe partially because his mom is the exact carbon copy of my mother.... oh, and did i mention that my mom's name is Marie? LOL

I contested this ticket - and i won........................... i feel better now

That's because there isn't much going on right now. I will be working on my car this weekend getting it ready to go! New oil, new blower oil, probably change the transmission fluid, gotta get a tire patched, and fire her up!

Yeah Dan, then he sold it to a gentlemen named Mark up in Erie and that's where I'm going to get it. It's getting trailered home.
Thanks Ron.
Greg, I figured you'd be happy to here this news. I remember how much you busted my balls about me selling it. LOL

That's over 70,000 1/4 mile runs with healthy burnouts!
Lucky for you that spring is almost here. You'll have a few weeks to get it all detailed and gather some parts, and cruising season will be here.

Yeah Ron, a lot of those 1/4 mile runs were from when I had it the first time. The car is super clean, the owner now is anal retentive about it.
Not many mods left to be done to it except a Whipple or a Kenny.
I dont know of any OW's in the area.

Mom told us even in the 50s/60s she had to wash the drapes every month to get the soot out
In the summer it was the pollution, in the winter it was the coal furnaces....
Things calmed down as natural gas took root in the 70s
And the big steel mills closed down

believe it or not, its actually supposed to be a blower cam, but I dunno if i'll ever find out how well it works in a boosted application. I'd probably only put an e-force on the car, and being that I will likely want to consider a C7Z once some 1 year old used ones pop up, I don't want to dump a bunch more money into this car, especially considering i'm very happy with it right now

Strange weather place where I am .... this time of year the days get 55-60, nights 35-40, you would think not so bad ... until the f'ing wind blows. It comes from the north, it will be 60 in the sun with a wind chill it's 20 degrees. Wind cuts you hard.
