How does the security actually work if you get screwed out of something? I am getting ready to make a pretty big purchase and i just want to make sure if something happens, i will know what i will have to do to get my money back.

its really easy, it happened to me a few months ago the guy never sent me my blu ray player. i filed a claim........you wait 10 days for the other party to respond. then paypal refunds you the next day in full!

yes forgot to mention that. I think its harder to get money back if you receive an item not as described too, then they have to investigate to see how much money they will give you back

make sure you buy it as a tangable item or untangable item. one of those ways paypal cant help you (like cash) cause there's no way for them to prove that cash was delt, even though it's right there infront of them or that you got a refund already.
i put a down payment on a car out of state, went and looked at the car and didnt want it.the seller wouldnt refund me my money so i put a claim though paypal and there's nothing they could do cause there was no proof the seller didnt already refund me the deposit. needless to say i made another trip to there house and got my deposit back.LOL....
just watch yourself. i've been a member of paypal of long time and never had any issues till then. but i havent had any since.

This only works if the seller actually HAS the money left in their paypal account. If they transfer it out good luck getting it. Ask me how I know. Don't depend on paypal for security. Been there done that.. Now for large purchases I use my Master Card via paypal do I can just dispute the charges with the CC company and they and paypal can duke it out.

This happened to me on a intake, guy didn't ship it after I paid him, I won the claim through Paypal but he had no money in the account. I was lucky though because about 2 months later someone must have paid him thriough PayPal and they snaged his money and gave it back to me
