What mine will you be at? I worked underground for years. I've worked at Bailey, Mon View, 84 and a host of other coal mines in the area.

Funny things about Bailey and enlow is that I spent countless hours in Bailey, yet I never stepped foot in Enlow which is ironic given their proximity to one another. I have friends that I used to work with that are now at Bailey full time. Let me know if you end up there.

Congrats! I was a salt miner for Morton salt in Fairport, Ohio for 10 years. That mine was 2000' feet down, then went almost 5 miles out under Lake Erie. Mined road salt. About 3 million tons a year came up out of there. Most of the time I ran a 51 ton loader that hauled 20 tons a load.

did you travel to Bailey from Altoona on a daily basis? That's a trillion mile round trip, isn't it? Wow. :slaphappy:

3M tons is insane for 2000' down and 5 miles out...
That salt mine must run 24/7/365 ??? :goodidea:

What happened to Marsh??? Shit Ed, i havent been there in three months, i stayed after on a friday cleaning the rat hole and pressure washed the inside, on payday i asked if i was gonna get paid for staying till 9 at night, he said he wasnt gonna pay me for that because i did it on my own! What a Prick, so when they gave me my check, i rounded up a few things i needed and left.... no arguements or anything, he didnt know, i just left! We had are differences in the past, and it always worked out, but this time i figure after 10 years working there, if he cant appreciate a good employee, then he can go screw himself:goodidea:

I worked for my grandfather's business as a belt vulcanizer. Most of my work at Bailey was on the weekends as that was the only time they could afford to have a belt line be down for us to work on it, but yes, I traveled there from here and our pay didn't start until we got to the job site... that part sucked.
