You need to be more descriptive on whats done to it. I got mine with 130,000 from the original owner. Never been in snow. Just up and down I-95 many many times to his winter home. No rust either. Paid 3500 for it. Came out to 4000 with tax and fees.

'87 GT 110000 miles, $1200, $1100 in paint supplies. Zero rust on the body, interior was average.

but also take in consideration rust free foxes are rare and extremely hard to find .. paint job is nothing compared to some of the things ive seen. you also might have trouble findind the exact interior pieces you need .. its all in what you want to deal with but 2500 is average for a car that needs 2500 or more worth of work IMO

i think if he takes 2500 I might get it because in the probably looking at 4500 total when redone. does that sound decent for a 89 fox redone
Thanks Hunter

the steering wheel usually is the half inch bolt under the column cover, just tighten and it's good.
other small repairs? (what needs done)
interior fixed? (what needs fixed)
clean title?
any rust?
do you know all the spots to look for on a fox for rust?
local car or southern?
you have any more info or pix you can supply?
we would be able to give you more opinions with the info above.

If it's mostly stock and need paint, I wouldn't pay more than $1,000. That's just me though, it's not like I know anything about them or have ever bought one or two or twenty.
These threads always crack me up.... They are good for a laugh.

The 89.
It already has $1000 worth of parts on it that you know you would bolt on anyway. Why dont you test drive them both, then make your decision..

I don't think it is worth 4500 with it not beibng inspected and needing a paint job. would the 89 run alot better from a power stand point

I dont think either is worth the asking price.
The 89 will rape the 83 hands down though.

Have you looked at the 89 in person? Him saying it needs paint or could use paint and what others thin could be a huge difference. If it has a chip here or there or clearcoat coming off you could get it fixed and not have the cost of a full paint job. Especialy if it is a solid car. It could very well be worth it. Get him to let you start it after it has sat all nite see if it blows blue smoke when you start it (valve seals) then maybe banter the price with him. Probaly couldnt get it to pass inspection due to emissions. So ya give it a real good tune up run the hell out of it before takeing it in to get it inspected. If it is solid and runs good its most likely worth the 4500. Solid building blocks are getting harder to find.
ALSO, check the front frame rails start at the bumper and work your way back. Check at the base of the strut towers and where it bend down at the firewall. Prone spots. Sometimes you have to crawl underneath if the headers are hideing the spot at the base of the strut tower. Like mine was hidden.

not sure if it is in your price range, but there is a nice white 93 fox at a used car dealership across from the sheetz by franklin regional HS. brand new off white/cream paint, cowl hood, 93 cobra rims, and it seems like they've put some other goodies on it too because they always had it in their garage working on it and it runs strong. check it out, it's a super clean fox!:goodidea:
