How strong or weak is a 1986 block? Am I going to spit this thing like a piece of fire wood with a big stroker kit and spray? :slaphappy:

Im in your boat right now. Building a Windsor based stroker. From what ive been told is that 650 RWHP isnt a problem. Ive read that the 69-74 blocks are marginally stronger (how much noone knows) but this has never been confirmed.

I was told by woody my 94 roller block was good to 750 fwhp. With good parts of course.

86 won't take the hp.They are thin junk just like the newer blocks
69-74 is what you want if you want to make serious hp or the 94 roller blocks

Worry more about the rpm than the power IMO. 700hp/7000rpm is thrown around, but take that for what its worth.

Agree the early block are best but nothing I know of the '94+ blocks make them stronger, they're just roller ready. Must be an F4 casting, not just a '94+ truck.

Cool. I built a 408 with a 69 block in the past. I dont think I will use this 86 block. Doesnt sound any stronger than my E7 blocks.
