Yeah I saw him at the track and the car looked great. He was on street tires and it looked like he was on black ice. :rotflol: I think he was trapping high 120's if I remember right.

Thanks Clark. No, I didnt. I started with 110 wet paper.Suzuki has an anodized coating that nothing takes off. Except sand paper. I finished with 4000 grit. It was polished before I even put the polish on. Every paper change I switched directions to be sure all sand scratches were taken out. Now I am gonna have nightmares. HAHAHAHHAHA Streelwool never came close to this thing.

He does post here - SaleenGTroush is his user name.

That car screams! I beat him from a low roll when he had a fat passenger, but his car is definitely the faster car (don't take what I'm saying out of context!)

His car put down 565 coming straight off the highway iirc, and has trapped 131.

I beat an 06 gixxer 600 from a 40mph roll twice...and that was with a ported eaton car.

It's not that hard to believe. 600cc bikes with a 200lb rider will typically trap around 118-120....

Edit...I've also ran gates twice coming back from PRP and after he caught traction I was walked.

Everyone's argument has a little weight to it...

the thing is, 600's are capable of some rediculous times.... mid 10's are possible and the one professional put a R6 into the 9's with only a dropped suspension a couple years ago.... but, even great riders are going to have trouble yanking a 10 second pass out of a 600cc sportbike - not impossible, but its going to be very hard... even the smallest mistake and a powerful car is going to be able to hold its own...

When my car was a h/c car, i tracked down a 600. I can't even imagine the slaughter my car would put on a 600 in its current state.

But also, keep in mind that 600's are somewhat seen as a "starter bike," so very few 600cc riders are the great riders that would be needed to spank a high hp muscle car.... whether you like to hear it or not, give me that '06 gsxr-600 and ur ported eaton only car will not keep up - but that's besides the point ...

Let's talk about litrebikes - better bring some serious business if you wanna hang with these babies! Drag racing a sportbike is no fun anyways... :goodidea:

I agree that a start from a roll or a dig will affect the outcome.

I never said it was impossible to lose on a modern 600 SS but it wouldn't get raped if it did lose.

I rode my STOCK 600 SS to an 11.1 in hot weather with a terrible 60ft. 10's were very easily mine if I would have went in cooler weather. I don't even want to know what it would have ran if I would have strapped it down and tweeked the suspension.

My bike held its own also with liter bikes from a roll.

Sorry, if anyone thinks that a new 600 SS is a "starter bike", you're out of your mind. Unfortunately, the general public do look at 600's like that but people who believe that are so far from the truth. Its just ignorance.

And a KB cobra will not RAPE a modern 600 SS with equally good drive/rider.

Here: I know its only one example and people can argue both ways but it gets my point across. F4i VS KB cobra. And F4i's aren't even really a SS.

I am sure that the rider of the bike has alot to do with many outcomes of many races. but i have to throw in my personal experiences on this one, being the owner of a +600hp kenne bell cobra it takes more then a 600cc bike to get around me. and i suck at the driving haha. nothing against 600cc bikes either, hell if i had the extra money i would like to have one. And on topic haha that is a really clean looking car, if i was still in the market i would be all over that

pppppplease.... now you're sounding a little silly

a 600 wouldn't touch my 2000 TL1000R, let alone my new R1 ... and although the TL-R was able to hang alright with the litrebikes I rode with - now that I own a R1, i see that the TL-R wasn't even in the same universe as my R1 (those guys just didnt push their bikes as hard as i did) ... Frankly, no matter how modern, a 600cc bike is not keeping up with the modern Litrebikes, roll or dig...

i mean, if you're comparing a 2008 R6 to a 1998 GSXR1000, then ok, i agree, a 600 will keep up with a litrebike

I never said I felt this way, but that's the way people, in general, look at them.... i mean, i don't blame them entirely... until the new Kawi 250 came out with a decent new look last year, anything below the 600cc level was just a flat out UGLY bike - and you wanna be proud of what you're riding around on.... I don't even oppose starting out on a 750 or 1000cc bike (my first sportbike was my TL-R - but i rode my dad's cruiser for several years before this) - you just have to show a lot of maturity and restraint

exactly dude.... that was his first bike ever, and he only had for for what? 1 month? i'm sure its scary as hell to jump on a modern sportbike (especially that torquey thing) as your first bike ever!

personally, i found that bike to be harder to launch from a dig b/c of the torque curve

I'd have gladly come down a raced ur gixxer vs. that bike - sad to say it's no longer around :(
but if you magazine race, the newer 600's would keep up with it ... uh oh, better watch out :hide: - the 'Toona gang might come and accuse me of such atrocities

Sorry for the overarching generalization, but I think what I was saying stands on its own.

So if Big Ben was driving a car instead of riding a motorcycle, he'd have ended up the same way... right? (Yes, I am more than aware of the fact that a helmet would have greatly reduced his injuries)

Regardless,a motorcycle is more dangerous no matter what speed you're going. Don't take that as a personal attack, its just the truth of the matter.

Nobody forces you to jump out of a plane or ride a motor cycle or be a speed/adrenaline junky. That isn't any sort of an argument....

I just pointed out some of the great shortcomings of motorcycles. Why are you being defensive? It is common knowledge.

I agree that I'm not sacrificing any comforts on a motorcycle. What about the fact that riding a motorcycle is 10x more fun than riding in a car, no matter how fast the car....

Sounds like someone's a little butthurt that their car will get romped on by a bike :p ...

just taking a jab of course, but i'm really not sure where your safety argument comes from?? The safety of going very fast was never a part of this argument.... however, i will chime in that i personally feel safer at high triple digit speeds on my bike than i do in my car.... but those that do not ride would not understand that...

If you call things like these shortcomings, then the shortcomings of cars go on and on as well....

you can't just hop on a 180hp bike and be the fastest on the block... either way, i already stated that, to me, the fun of a bike is not drag racing - its knee dragging :goodidea: whether or not its the safest thing on earth

i have walked away from a few wrecks and the tiller that bish used to own and were we talking about my best friend got nailed by a lady in a car and walked away with no injuries and my cousin also got hit on the parkway by some old lady and suffered no injuries.. Going fast in itself is dangerous, but in a car people take things for granted and are not as much aware of the surrounds than someone is on the bike.. If im driving my car i could pass ten people and wouldnt be able to tell you anything about the cars but if im on the bike and i do the same thing i can tell you the color and make off all of them..

It just comes down to what someones into, but you can not compare the power to weight ratio of a bike to a car.. the bike will win everytime and thats what i meant by the 1500 hp and 50 mpg....

and on my bike i have a/c 60mph going down the road and i dont even have to roll down windows. lol haha

Did'nt realize you were comparing it to a KB cobra (did'nt read the whole thread) I got the impression from reading some of the post that bikes are faster than most cars. I never said anything about going fast, I just meant in general. Common sense says if you get in a fender bender in a car, you'll most likely walk away unharmed - a bike... not so much.

If you call things like these shortcomings, then the shortcomings of cars go on and on as well.... I agree 100%, I was just stating the other side of the argument/the obvious.

you can't just hop on a 180hp bike and be the fastest on the block... either way, i already stated that, to me, the fun of a bike is not drag racing - its knee dragging :goodidea: whether or not its the safest thing on earth

I wouldn't buy a bike, personally, because I know I'd push it past the envelope at some point or another. I used to race competitively in downhill skiing, and that is one of the major reasons why I left the sport. Spend enough time on the edge & you'll slip up. A few big crashes taught me that, and I was lucky enough to walk away from them and smart enough to walk away from the sport.

Bo, your argument is a long-standing common sense vs. karma kinda deal.

I've had many sport bikes, a few fairly fast cars and now the Harley. When I sold my last sportbike, I told Wifey and my old man that I would never get another one... maybe a Harley. The reason is what you said about the skiing. I really don't want to take myself out. You could still do something stupid on the HD, but it's not really that fun on the "edge" with that machine. The things that will take me out are the same things on the sportbike and the more dangerous things... even little ones... like ground hogs and dogs, an SUV with a 5-thumbed ape driving, stuff falling off pick-up trucks (yeah, that's right), a blow-out especially on the front, mechanical failures... etc etc etc.

So, in conclusion, the only person that I trust on the bikes is me and I've tried to take myself out of the equation by riding a bike that is not as fast, doesn't handle well and has mediocre brakes. All of those things might save me in those other bad situations. Kinda weird.

It's a conundrum.

My dad (who rode bikes for years) doesn't like me riding. We get in this argument all the time. I (sometimes) feel like when it's your time to go, it's your time to go. You might be 37 years old and have a massive heart attack in your sleep and die and that's it for you. If you're at work, or in a car, or on your bike at that very moment, then that's when you go.

So, he says, "Then, why don't you just go jump out of an airplane every day?"

never crashed on the street (KNOCK ON WOOD KNOCK ON WOOD), but many hazzards, I have drove through, around by luck? chance? skill? who knows?

the sooner you assume you are totally INVISIBLE, you will become a better rider on the street. :goodidea:

I've been riding bikes since I was 5 years old, so some things just come natural, like counter steering. I am not trying to brag or say I got more skillz than anybody, it's just something I've been doing for 32 years. :rolleyes:I don't even think about it. I've tested myself many times and I just do it. John, it's hard to explain if you've never ridden, but basically when you're on a bike, you actually push/pull the handlebars in the opposite direction of the direction you actually want to go.

For instance, if you want to go LEFT, the first thing you do is push with your left hand and pull with your right hand, just a little bit. This gets the bike leaning left, then you ever-so-slightly start turning the other direction.

If you are not experienced (you see this on the news a lot --- "it just seemed like he turned right into the car" a witness will say) and a car pulls up real hard on your right, your gut reaction is to turn the handlebars 90* to the left which will do the exact opposite and put you right into the car.

That was the next level for me, you get enough speed to get pretty fouled up. Was ranked 81 in the nation in my age bracket when I left the sport. We ran courses that didn't get quite that much speed since the gates were tighter, but I had the bad habit of carrying a lot of speed through the tight sections and being a little more on the edge than some of the lighter guys

Burt Munro is the guy they made the movie about called "The Last Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. He was from Australia. He spent all his money to bring a 1924 Indian to Bonneville in 1963/4/5? and he beat the world record for single cylinder motorcycles under 900cc? I think.

no, that isn't me in the vid but I've taken some like that. Sometimes you get too greedy and carry way too much speed into a section and you just catch some bad terrain and you're gone.

I used to be really nuts with skiing, like crank my DIN settings on my bindings up to the point where the only way it would release was if my leg came with it. Going at a pretty high rate of speed in a high G turn and having your binding release will make you go a little overboard.. the big thing for me was that I've had some close calls like that, but most of the time I was barreling towards a bunch of unforgiving trees, which is where most of these courses are set up - since you can't reserve a whole run for it. Not to say that I don't ski too fast or put myself in dangerous situations anymore because I don't do it, the temptation is still there. I used to ski ~35 days a year, and I'd only take a 'fall' once every year or three - but those were more like catastrophic and explosive "yard sales" (its what you call it when all of your shit flies off).

btw "I live my life a quarter mile at a time" and there is a Black KB Cobra for sale on Craigslist
