View Full Version : Roller spider + Non Roller Block ??
Anyone know if I can drill/tap a non roller block to make a roller lifter spider work in a 351w? I'll use t-bar lifters if I have to.

you can do it but youll be stuck running reduced base circle cams, if you spend the dough on the retrofit lifters you can run any cam designrd for a stock roller motor. the threads wont pull out there really isnt any pressure on the spider just the tension to hold the dogbones onto the block by the bent piece on the bottom of the spider

But on a H.O block where it bolts down isn't it raised where the threads are but not on a reg block?
Hmm ok I'd rather not use a reduced base circle cam so this makes my decision easier.

yea its rough spending all the $$$ on the lifters but its the way to go for the future, cam selection, the solid rollers are about 150$$ less and the comp line of xr's are very streetable

Just buy the Comp Cam link-bar lifters and you'll be miles ahead.
Check out www.fordstrokers.com
For some great pricing on them.

The comp link bar lifters are a really nice piece and work well. Jay allen at camshaft innovations can get you a really good deal on them too.
