what is your suggestion for a good cylinder head/intake manifold combo for a naturally aspirated 306?¿

ive heard that the systemax is better for superchargers/turbos/nitrous and not so well for naturally aspirated cars...but i havent had any experience with it so i guess i cant really say anything

what HP range? spending range? what RPMs you want to shift at? track only, street driven?

mostly street car and would like a good 300-350 HP (or more if possible with my setup being naturally aspirated)
My setup right now is:
stock block .30 over
eagle hypereutectic pistons
stock crank
b303 cam

once again, what price range?
we could build ya a really wild setup, but something more mild in an more economic price range.
to get 300rwhp, thats not hard anymore, 350rwhp is a bit harder.
for 300rwhp, just about any heads/cam/intake setup is gonna get ya there.
for 350rwhp, i would use afr 185s/TFS R intake, custom cam, 30# injectors, 75mm t-body and a 80mm Pro-m.

I'm going to be doing my swap in a few weeks or when I get some time on my 91LX. I'm going with Trick flow track heat 185 CNC heads with a holley systemax intake. Depending on your funds, Trick flow has a nice kit that comes with heads, intake, cam, etc. From what I've seen on the dyno the kit does really well.

B-cam, gt-40 intake and cast gt-40 heads could get you 300 hp, Joe Dasilva was doin it in the early 90's and the cars were goin high 11's low 12's with his tune.

GT 40 heads and cobra intakes can be had cheap, but I would go with the systemax and either tfs or afr heads to leave room for growth, but it all depends on what your ultimate goal is for the car.

Pure Stock runs one on his N/A combo and he attributes the Systemax to getting his car into the 10's.

I like my Trick Flow top end. 2.02 TW heads. Track Heat intake. Match that with a nice TF cam and it will rock! Send that stuff down to Fox Lake and it will be even better!

yeah, that gt40 setup is a very nice one. you can find some cobra intakes, ported, for 300-350... depends on how much its ported. you could do that setup for less than 700, maybe a bit more if you get the factory 1.7 cobra rockers.

Just go to a junk yard and look for a 98-01 Mountineer or Exploder. That I what I am doing for my Vert. Cheap way to get some fresh power.

i have really good luck when small cubes are used... I take the factory E7TE heads and give 1.90-1.60 valves and port them, although by the time you are done with valves, port work, stud conversion, you have 1000$ invested, so for a street car i would go with the edelbeock performer rpm set up, heads and intake, i have used that set up for both carbed and efi, with great results... And I tell people to really be carefull about the efi stuff, to big of a intake set up will kill your bottom end power.

Yeah thats what i was saying earlier in the post...i said that i heard the systemax was bad for N/A cars. The person who told me that said that probably becuase its so big...

Not exactly sure of the numbers i'm churnin, but I am running ported GT40 iron heads, an explorer intake with a ported lower, 65mm TB, a b-cam, 24lb injectors, cobra ecm, and cobra maf. And my car feels strong as hell. I am very pleased. Now if I could just get some traction.

I run a N/A car and I swear by the systemax intake. The only intake that I believe is to big (out of the box) for what you are doing is the Spyder intake. For an EFI car.
It doesn't matter if you are running a power adder or N/A. It depends on how much air you are pulling through your intake and heads. A N/A car can run just as big of an intake, but you have to rev the car higher to pull enough air. So you would need more gear and if you're running auto a higher stall convertor to get your RPM's where you need them, and then the bigger intake will not hurt your bottom end.
If you are going with a good (out of the box) head like trickflow or AFR I would run the systemax intake.

I agree,if I were you I would go with the systemax and T/F OR AFR's :twocents:

Trick flow twisted wedge heads, gt-40 intake with 1 inch phenolic spacer, trick flow stage 1 cam. Stock bottom end. Thats what i got now and it runs good for me anyway.

To a point. Most of the Mail order intakes are not too big for a 302. When I swiched from a Cobra intake to my TF Track Heat, I didnt loose much at all.
