Sent to me in an email:

Twas the Night Before the Super Bowl

‘Twas the night before the Super Bowl, when along the gulf shore,
Steelers fans were praying for “just one more;”
The players were nestled all snug in the sack,
With visions of the first NFL Six-Pack;
Coach Tomlin was young, but wise for his years,
So I drifted off to sleep without any fears;
When at the stadium there arose some strange chatter,
The Cardinals feared, what was the matter;
We heard “Okel Dokel”, we heard “Double Yoi,”
We jumped from our beds, our hearts jumped for joy;
He stood at the fifty with a grin ear to ear,
Steelers fans everywhere started to cheer;
Then in an instant to our surprise,
This little old man had tears in his eyes;
He went to the booth and there took his chair,
While Terrible Towels waved in the air;
Then over the airwaves came his shrill voice,
The Steelers Nation began to rejoice;
He said, “I am back, but you know I can’t stay,
I just had to see my Steelers play;
From my home up above, I have a great view,
But I wanted to celebrate here with you;
So bring on the Birds, we’ll send them a flyin’,
On the way back to Phoenix , they will be cryin’;
Ben, Hines, Troy , Jeff and all of the rest,
No matter the outcome, to me you’re the best;”
The airwaves went silent, the stadium still,
Was this just a dream, it seemed so real;
In our team we have faith, in our team we have hope,
But the game’s not the same without Myron Cope

Of Course, its never the fact that the Steelers stepped up after slacking off in the third on defense. I mean cmon, even if they would have reviewed that last play they would have seen his arm was hit and the ball was coming out before his arm went forward. Jesus and I bet they are saying Santonio didn't get both feet down either:rotflol:

I get so mad about that every game. I try to tell myself not to, but it doesn't work.

I still think I saw a shadow under Big Ben's knee when he was going into the endzone though, not a whole foot short. Might be bias talking though...

And they did review the fumble in the box, they just didn't announce it on the field because the call was right. Heard that on ESPN radio today.

Gotta agree with you on the spot given to Ben. He wasn't in but he sure looked like he was closer than a foot, Lol.

isn't it nice to be on the winning side, and not have to resort to crying and putting the blame everywhere but where it belongs?

i'm glad someone else saw the shadow under bens knee, i was beginning to think i was seeing things?

Lol, I lived in Glendale AZ for ten years and NOBODY even talked about football.

I went to a cards home game vs the steelers in like 1994 and there was black and gold everywhere! The two popular sports out there were baseball and basketball.

If the refs would have given either one of those TDs to the Steelers, the end of the game would have been us sitting on the ball to run the clock out because the score would have been 24-23.

Both of the TDs that Whiz challenged were signalled as a TD ON THE FIELD. There has to be inconclusive evidence during the review process to overtun the CALL ON THE FIELD. I did not see it. Then again, I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. :rolleyes:

I could be wrong here, I know Az. played a good game. But I really thought the Steelers would have blown them out. It's the underdog thing I guess. If they had blown them out,(like I know they could've), then thier fans wouldn't be able to blame the refs. only thier team. Of course it wouldn't be good for the ratings to have a blow out either. I just feel a couple of our guys held back for some reason. I'm just happy we won!!

I'm wrong. If the Steelers already had 24, AZ should/would've gone for 2 points when Fitz caught that TD, so the end of the game would have been 24-22 (us sitting on the ball again) or 24-24 tie and we might have tried to score before the end of regulation.

Not that any of this matters, I'm just happy I can physically type tonight. :rofl:

All the whining from the Cardinals' fans sickens me. Same goes for Seattle after SBXL. When we lost the SB against Dallas, we ( Steeler fans ) all knew it was because O'Donnell screwed up and threw those 2 awful picks. We didn't blame the refs or say Dallas got lucky here and there. We sucked it up and took the loss. Granted, we wanted O'Donnell's head on a platter, but we didn't blame the officials. Just goes to show that fans of other teams for the most part don't have a clue. The Cardinals lost the game for so many reasons. Warner threw the bonehead INT on FIRST AND GOAL from the 4 that Harrison took back to the house. Their player from the bench got in Fitzgerald's way as he chased down Harrison, allowing 92 to just make it to the endzone. They committed stupid personal fouls that helped our scoring drive in the 2nd half. They threw the ball in the middle of the field on their last drive, forcing them to use their last 2 time outs. And finally, their defense just didn't get it done on our final drive - THEY CHOKED. You make errors like those in the big game and it is going to cost you - period.

What did you guys think about Santonio getting the MVP? I guess I agree with it. Had Ben scored that first TD that was overturned, or not underthrown the bomb to Nate when he was WIDE open, then Ben would have gotten it. But Santonio took over on the final drive and torched the birds all the way down the field. Kudos to him on a great game.

For those of you heading to the parade, have a great time. I wish I could be there to see it.

5 months until training camp... :-)
