I know its not a mustang but didnt know where else to go lol.

Well after a few months of driving my car i feel that it isnt putting out the power it could. My set up is as fallows 5.0 h.o non roller block with 204/214 cam cast gt40 heads under drive pullies, stock rebuilt motor with new flat top pistons, GM HEI ignition set up (wont rev past 4800 rpms) summit intake manifold edelbrock 600cfm carb. electric fuel pump. shorty headers. T5.

I am going to switch the carb set up for an MASS air EFI one. I have most of the parts i need just laying around.

The question is : do you think I will gain any power from switching to efi? Is it even going to be worth it. I know the driveablity will be better.

I am not sure what intake I have. My dad is kind of a ford guy and he gave me this one. Said it was a good one.

this is my set up now.

the intake you have is off a explorer, it's basically the same intake as a gt40 or cobra intake. alot of people run those cause they flow nice and cost bout 1/2 the price.

going EFI should improve your power, you should try to find a roller block. as for rev's efi cars can rev high (depending on your mods) 5500-7k

also mass air can handle more upgrades threw the computer. it's nice to just turn the key in cold weather on efi's as to having to pump/choke carb setups.

I'd stay carb and do some checking into your ignition. My stock 351 with a junk ass dist. would rev to 5k+. Carb ya don't have to pay 500+ for tuneing and if the carb is set up and tuned correctly drives just as nice as efi. It isnt like its a radical combo so I don't see why it should be bad to drive. I havent had any luck with Edelbrock carb's they are like a glorified quadrajunk. The whole choke thing shouldnt be an issue much either. I don't forsee you driving it in the winter and I usualy dont have a choke at all on my carb's. Chilly nites they still fire up and run. Just my 2cents worth.

I guess to me making the fuel injection run like it should would be easy. I feel like I am not getting the power that it has. As far as the roller block goes I am going to do that down the road after this one blows up. I plan on boost by this fall. If the efi goes well.

Most would say the opposite. I'm going to try carbed to get away from efi, because I thought it was a pain in the ass. I wanted to try something different too, but I don't think it's a good idea to completely change your setup without first identifying the problem you have now. First thing I would do is throw that distributer and carb as far away from the car as you can...

stay carbed & get it sorted out. ditch the carb though you'll never get an edelbrock carb to perform at any decent kinda level. also unless you've changed it since the pic you do not have a gm dist. thats all ford but it still could be giving you problems. as far as the rev's I'd be looking at valvetrain problems arising from the head swap. if you want power more than driveability carbed the only way to go much eaiser to work on/tune & will allways make more power for an apples to apples comparison combo.

I was using the ford dizzy with a gm hei ignition module.
