Anyone ever been there? a friend of mine txtd me and said he got a awesome deal to go.. im not big on flying or anything. was wondering if anyone else have ever been there
Check www.applevacations.com for some good package prices. I think I'm going to pay pretty close attention to what people recommend for vacation destinations cause I wanna take my gf somewhere tropical for her birthday in august.

If i were you, I'd go on a 7 day cruise.... I was on 3 of them with my parents while in high school.... My parents have been on 20 or 25 of them... That's definitely what i'm doing whenever I get done wiht my actuarial exams....
May and October/Nov are the cheapest times of the year to go.... and you can get some KILLER deals if you either book way in advance, or book within a month of the cruise (they're usually looking to get rid of their extra rooms) ...
I almost went on one the first week of December ... $325 + airfare per person on a Princess cruise lines cruise.... you can't beat it... and that's ALL food, shows, etc included... Only think you'll have to pay for is alcohol!

My aunt and uncle went last year. Didn't like it one bit for that reason. They couldn't leave the resort because it was "unsafe".

Unless you run into some REALLY bad weather, you wouldnt' even know you're on a boat....
Remember, you're on a ship thats upwards of 100,000 tons....

You like your feet to be on the ground...Same here man, however I dont mind flying, I just kinda deal with it and think of where Im going..

Been on a couple cruises down around there and it was heaven on earth, for real!
Heard alot about it, was gonna go there on one of'em but couldn't, a hurricane came thru a couple months before we were about to leave and ripped it apart. So we had to reroute.
But if your vacationing for the money u can't beat a cruise, and flyin is so relaxing! I would say go for it. I'm pretty sure here soon we might make our way down there.

I have been to the Dominican Republic 3 times, twice in Punta Cana, and once in Purto Plata. When I go back again it will be to Punta Cana. I stayed at the Iberostar.
Both places are very nice, beats the hell out of this crappy PA weather.

Another option would be Aruba. It is by far my favorite place to go. My family and I go every year. Its not a "tropical" island though, its pretty much a desert. It rarely ever rains, the winds are always blowing and the temps are normally in the 80's. Its below the hurricane belt so you don't have to worry about getting hit if you plan a vacation in the summer. The people are so nice, they all speak english, and they take dollars which for me is a huge plus. I wouldn't go anywhere else as there is plenty to do and no where is off limits. We explore the island every time we go from one end to the other without any fear of the locals like was mentioned above.

The Wife and I got married there. Very nice place! We stayed at the Iberostar Bravara and would not hesitate to go back.
