yea i need to talk to a diesel guy before i jump into any dodges. they said they'll call me back in a few they had some stuff going on.. but i was towing a car trailer with my 93 F150 and i need more power these gas jobs dont get it done. and for as much as i drive a truck i dont need a newer one so 95-2000 is good enough

I would not go that far to say that.. Dont forget your trying to get an old 93 F150 to haul a car and trailer.. thats alot different that have a newer truck do the same thing. Dont get me wrong diesels are nice to tow with, i should know:biglaugh:, but still my f-150 does a good job also

Like said last nite. You said you wanted smoke. With that comes other mods to make it last as well. Dodge was known to have weak auto's once you started putting power to them. 2 ways to fix that. 1 send it to brians trans shop. Cost you about 3500-4k with a billet converter and they will warranty it for breakage no matter how severe. They build shit not to break hence the price. Get it rebuilt by a good tranny guy with all upgrades and have a go at it. It all depends on what power you want to make with it. I have plans for mine if I don't decide to sell it and they arent cheap. One thing requires another and so on. One question I would ask about any dodge is if the injection pump was ever replaced. Thats a large chunk of money for a stock part if it hasnt failed yet. 1600+ for one.

I have an 07 dually that I pull a 48' wedge trailer with. Couldn't find a 2wd 6 speed used, and I got this one for a great deal. Even for the great price, for heavy towing I wish I would've gotten the manual.

i was told i can change it over to 5speed rather cheaply. itd probably be in my best interest to do that and just buy a good clutch than to build a auto. ill ask about the pump. there was a guy there asking for a pump for a 01 and they told him $650 with a core. i dunno how much different they are.. my power goals are not high just smoke thats all LOL.

Id only build as far as a stock tranny would let me. till i could afford a 5 speed swap

Once I started looking into how much a built auto would cost, I started looking into the same thing! I'll probably just buy a bigger truck.

Most of the problem with the autos in those trucks is caused by them overheating cause of the check ball in the cooler line.

the years your looking at IMO your way better off with a ford as those years are 7.3's & the actual truck (chassis, brakes, susp, etc) is 100+% better. their auto's are no problem (for what you'll be doing anyway, the pto provision is questionable for a tow truck/dump truck/etc) plenty of power & upgrades avalible. dont forget those year dodges chassis's are such junk that aftermarket body builders would not want to put bodies on them & if the customer insisted they wouldn't give you a warranty at all. I towed many broken frame dodges back then. never really cared all that much for upgraded 5.9's either if you upgrade them you will blow them up eventually, period( they were never designed for even the stock power level's in the later dodges, there meant to be low h/p high torque pump/industrial power plants). but hey what do I know I just fix truck's everyday

i'll get more pics once i get batteries for the digital, The only mods to the truck are coilspring spacers o nthe front to level it, Aftermarket wheels with 33's, and dual stacks. but like i said only mod im doing is a cd player, and probably a brake controller for the enclosed trailer. and no mike im not gonna have it up for sale. the Sporty will go before the truck. ive wanted diesel for years :pepper:

Just to let you know its really easy to turn the injector pump up on those trucks. I did it to my buddies 89 cummins and got tons of hp and black smoke.:awsome: His was a stick though I don't know how well the auto would hold up. Nice ride though.
