ran into a slight problem... help please

so i put my headers in about 2 weeks ago and found that the steering column rubs a little... i looked at it yesterday and was gonna heat it up and put a dent in it but there is a weld right below where it needs to be dented and i dont wanna break the weld by heating it and denting it. what should i do without taking my car apart if possible to fix this problem??????

What kinda headers do you have? I have BBK longtubes and they hit very little at the steering shaft. All I did was to take a little ball pein hammer and tap on the runner until i got enough clearance. You shouldnt have to heat it up at all, I didnt.
