Wow I didn't think I'd get much of a response. Glad I'm wrong! I'm actually at beaver valley with my uncle right now, but we should maybe get together up at seven springs sometime!

You and I would ski well together, but I haven't skied in the east for the past 5 seasons :(

I've never been big on k2s though. I'm a big fan of atomic and Fischer cause they never seem to run outta grip and respond best when you're really work them. I wish I got some new skis but I only ski a few weeks a season now so it's tough to justify it. Plus my girlfriend is just learning so it would be a waste to buy a really hot set just for snow plow duty :(

I used to ski a ton, but haven't done it hardly at all since graduating high school.... I have way too many hobbies, and skiing is an expensive one - it was on the bottom of the list behind bikes, cars, golf, baseball, etc... so it had to go...

my brother was a ski instructor and race coach at 7 springs for 3 years....

Every year i look forward to winter so i can go skiing, and just never find the time to do it - and when i have time, i just don't wanna spend the $$

This is the first pair of K2s iver ever owned and love them. They are the Apache Crossfire. Absolutely love them. I used to only buy Salomon skis.

Yeah skiing with the ladies can be a bummer. Not a fan of waiting at the bottom for 5 minutes. lol. I ski like I race my car. As fast as possible.

I literally just looked at those in a shop. They have 90 degree sidewalks so I bet they hold edge like a mfer. I'm demoing a pair of tigershark 10 power switches tomorrow but i'm really itching to get back into a race ski. I get a really good hook up through willi's so I'll probably get something. I've been skiing my fischers for four seasons and it's the longest I've ever stayed with a set and I think they're gettin kinda flat

Yeah. They arent an all out race ski but on packed snow they hold edge real nice. Didnt need to spend the extra money on an all out race ski since i have retired from ski racing. Well maybe retired. I might pull off a weekend race at Seven Springs if I felt the need.:goodidea:

Since playin ice hockey and ice skatin since I was like 5, skiin came natural to me. Gone a few times skiin n luved it, but I was basicly a skater (skateboarder) since then too. So I took a likin to snowboardin more. I love thrashin! I haven't went in like 4 yrs thou. Been itchin to maybe go before the years over. My younger cuz waxed and sharpined my edges on my board a couple months ago and been buggin me to go so. So will see, if not this year, I'm most definately goin next year.

Yep, i ski when i have the time, I havent gone in a few years, but i used to hit the slopes 4-5 times a year, seven springs and hidden valley, my family has gone to the wisp as well, I went to nemicolin woodlands with the intension to ski and found it was only a cross country coarse so i declined... But we should all get together and hit up hidden valley sometime... I like hidden valley much better due to the fact they arent as busy during the weekday as seven springs...

I snowboard. Been to 7 Springs about 5 times this year. Usually I just spend my time in the parks. They just put a 30 & 42 foot kicker in the Spot which are pretty sick.

02-09-2009, 03:25 PM
Nate I thought you would just wanna go fast lol that surprises me!

Fwiw, those tigersharks are real sick. I think I gotta get em. Lightning fast on short turns and stable as hell on edge at higher speeds. I didn't think they would live up to all the hype but I'm really impressed! Looks like I don't have to ship for a set of race skis to get what I want :)

I gotta say, the snow in the east is a lot different than it is in the west... and our black diamonds are blues or greens out there hahaha oh man.

Had a lot of fun ripping up the north face, if anybody saw a guy wearing all black carving the hell outta the north face it was me!

Also, Wendy's has a 99 cent deal with seven springs for wednesdays - first lift ticket is full price, second is 99 cents. If you're not going skiing with anybody, I'm sure you can find someone that is buying a ticket & split the price with them :goodidea:

Thats an awesome deal!

How was the snow? When I was up there Saturday it wasn't great and really icy or bare in some areas. North face was a mess which was a shame because I love north face.

MBH
03-05-2009, 06:28 PM
well, the runs off to the sides of the high speed lift on the north face were crap. Pretty much just loose granular over ice. The north face slope itself was great though. The rest of the mountain wasn't bad snow for being mostly man made. The one thing that was pretty clear was that if you weren't skiing on it, it didn't have snow. I can't see them being open that much longer after this weekend's heat spell :(

I love when the snow is a hard pack type condition, not icey just hard cause it gives a lot of edge grip so you can really lay out some hard turns. Fortunately, that's just how the north face slope seemed to be, everything else had a little bit more of an icy feel to it (more sun exposure and frozen back up over night I'm guessing?)

Yea, thats how most of the mountain was when I was up there: loose granular over ice and ice is most other places. The front face was the only decent area.

I hope they get some kind of heavy snow once more so I can go up one more time but who knows.
