no, i am in german, right by the garage... My house is pretty darn nice though, a little over an acre, 2 car detched garage, huge living room, 3 bed, 2.5 bath (mens and womens LOL), dining room, kitchen, basement, big deck out back, fully done.

I've looked at a ton of forclosures... they are really hard to find, since most of them sell to investors before they ever hit the market.... Sometimes you can find them under short-sale, but the problem there is that you need to go to the courthouse and put in a bid - if you win, you have to have the money right there, that day - so you either submit for a mortgage well in advance, or you better have the money up front - which is why most of the nice ones go to investors....
It must be nice not having to be close to the city... :( I've been looking for a long time, and am now going to build, so i'm glad i held off... however, within a 30 min. drive of pittsburgh, you wont' find anything that's still standing for 60K (unless it has 60K bullet holes in it)

i have been looking for a while now. i even looked up near you all for comparison purposes. i must say you have a much better market, in terms of property value, than i am looking in. if i was to buy anything under 100k it would totally suck. 200k is the average in my area.
best of luck for you.
also FYI a lot of those tax sales at the courthouse, takes 16-18 months to finalize before you take ownership. it is to give the owner time to pay back all past taxes and fees/interest. if they pay it back you get like 1-3% on top of what you paid.
i am sure you have a MLS website in the area. you check there?

A friend of mine sister lived in this house. I think she paid $80K for it over 5 years ago. She bought a new home and for some reason couldn't sell it so she foreclosed. $62,500 for a home is Shaler is unheard of! The house has a lot of old world charm and a two car detached garage but in a the corner of two busy roads. If this doesn't bother you could have 30% - 40% equity the day you close! Homes like this go for 150k+ on Mt. Royal in Shaler.
