2009 Honda Civic Ex coupe 5 speed.
Are cold air kits and cat backs really worth it? Or just drop in K&N and replace muffler. Its just my daily driver and wanted to make it a little louder and if I gain a few hp or mpg thats great too.

yes they are worth it on those cars but youll have to spend some coin. when it comes to hondas the more it costs the better it actually is. and i can speak from experience on cat backs, do research and listen to them first. they get real annoying after awhile so try to find a nice quiet one w/ a good tone imo.

I like the greddy, sounded good all around and its tunable. Magnaflow sounded good at throttle but horrible at idle. Thermal is supposed to be the best around? ,but they don't make anything for newer than 03 that I can find.
Probably doing AEM cold air intake.

AEM is a very good CAI but dont use the bullshit water bypass they give you. It comes in the long ram kit, if thats the one you get. It breakdown over a short period of time and you start sucking all the debris from it into your engine.

That is what I planned to get and planned to use the bypass. Figured it was safe. Glad you mentioned this. Thanks.

Good choice on a DD. I had an 8th gen civic SI and I loved it.
Cat-backs for the cars are relatively expensive. If you really want an increase in sound, I'd just throw muffler on it.
There are a ton of intake systems out there for the car. If you want better performance, I'd go with a CAI over a WAI.

I'm looking at aem cold air intake, debating on greddy cat back, and tint and 17's for sure. And just nos stickers cause that adds more power than actually having a real setup./
