Use whatever euphemism you want, its still a bonus. I love the butthurt from this a$$hole:

and nothing of value was lost.

So I'm assuming you know that the media is responsible for throwing the term bonus around so recklessly? The bonus, as we're all so inclined to call it, represents the going price for a good employee in this situation. They either hit their specific and quantifiable goals (and earn their full salary) or they are a bust and they get fired (saving the company the full salary by not paying said 'bonus') since the employee didn't live up to expectations.

If you want to break out the torches and pitch forks, I suggest you redirect your attention to our current congress, fanny mae, freddy mac, and those responsible for a number of policies passed during the Clinton era.

How are you supposed to get the best men and woman for the job if you don't want to pay them??

Really? Apprently based on this resignation letter, the going price for a good employee is $1.00 a year.

No, they don't earn their full salary. They earn a "retention payment".

So I'm supposed to cry for him because he was stupid enough to accept a job with a base salary of $1.00 a year and then get a BONUS? Sorry, not happening. He was stupid/greedy enough to work for a stupid/greedy company and take that ludicrous offer. They deserve what they get.

Yeah, and Bush was such a perfect president

In any event, I never said this guy needs to be crucified. I said (in an indirect way) that I have no sympathy for him resigning. I'm curious, where did the "torch and pitch fork" soundbyte come from? Bill O'Reilly (he's really been on the rag since his idol [GWB] left office), or someone on late night TV?

False Dichotomy anyone?

I never said I didn't want to pay someone what they're worth. And if someone is among the best men and women for a job, they shouldn't need to "prove themselves" and hence shouldn't need to take a $1.00 a year salary with a BONUS at the end, now should they?

I love when the clinton years get dragged into conversations. You know all the problems of Bush's eight freakin years were the result of clintons term. I guess that means by republican math in another 6 years everything will be great since it will be a byproduct of the Bush years.

Please enlighten us of the problems created under the Bush administration:rolleyes:, and while you are at it tell us how the bailouts are going to help this country in a positive way.
And yes the clintonian adminstration is to blame for the colapse of the finanacial institutions for forcing lenders to make loans to people who can't pay for them, then having AIG insure those loans, this is why this country is in the mess it's in.
So yes the guy got thrown under the bus, the govt knew those bonuses where in the bill and signed it anyway, this guy is just the scape goat for the govt f**k ups. I would rather those AIG employess get their bonus than have some govt buracraut piss it away on some welfare POS.

Greed.
Executives are too greedy. Polititions are too greedy.
At some point they both have to look in the mirror and realize they are both guilty of the same thing.

I beleive this guy to this job for a 1.00 salary to get the company turned around, I also think he was retired and use to be the president of allstate insurance. I would also beleive that he is probably in pretty good shape financialy so I could see him trying to do the right thing. You know there still may be some good people out there, just maybe.

How about the thousands of lives and millions of dollars we are dumping daily into a now 7 year war that we still haven't heard the reason why we are there? To bring democracy to Afghanistan??? How did this come about when we were supposed to be looking for terrorists?
If Clinton f'd up so bad with his policies, Bush had 8 years to remedy it while having Republican control majority most of his terms. Ignoring it is just as bad. Seems like alot of people here praise him, but he is currently known as one of the worst presidents EVER!

And the bailouts were started while Bush was still in office in case you forgot:rolleyes:

I am not saying that the current administration is the greatest but if you think Bush wasnt an F'up you need to pull your head out of your a$$.

Yes we have no reason to be there:rollingfloorrlol:, tell that to the 3000 people that lost their live on 9/11, how soon we forget. I also know that in 2006 the republicans warned of this collapse if something is'nt done, the dems shot it down, don't worry everything is fine. In less than 2 years you will wish Bush was still in instead of this commie administration we have now.
Considering the things that happened early on in Bush's first term, 9/11 being the biggest, he kept this country in pretty good shape, having the lowest unemployment rate in history, 4.6% I beleive. It was'nt until 2006 when things started going down hill, when the dems took over congress.
I know Bush was not perfect, he did some things I don't agree with, history will show he was not as bad as the left wing media portrays him to be.

Peanuts compared to what this administration is doing, but since he's a dem it's the right thing to do. When you get taxed out of your ass then come back and tell us how great things are:rolleyes:.

Lets look at the yearly unemployment rates since you brang it up.

http://www.salary.com/personal/layoutscripts/psnl_articles.asp?tab=psn&cat=cat011&ser=ser032&part=par1308

Looks like a steady rise for the first Bush, a steady fall for Clinton, and then a rise again when W came in.

You better get a history lesson and a memory check, Al-qaeda, was supposedly behind 9-11, not afghanistan as a country, for whatever reason, we decided to liberate the ghanies. How the 4200+ U.S. soldiers bringing freedom to a country that the bulk of the population would rather see us killed than help us?

You proved my point, from 2003 5.8% to 2006 4.3%, not until the dems took over did it start to rise again, and it has'nt stopped yet.

Yes and Bush came in as the unemployment started to rise, it peaked in 2003 and then began falling. I think he did a pretty good job at keeping the country together after having the worst attack on American soil in history, not to mention he kept this country from getting attacked again.

I'm just on an iPod, so I'm going to be honest. I think you're an idiot based on what I just read. Stay in Canada if you think people don't deserve their salary that they agreed to or that congress isn't a bunch of morons for having agreed to the bonuses until joe blow working his unskilled and easily replaced/outsourced job threw a fit over it. So our flavor of the week government dropped the hammer to try to stay popular.

Regardless of current financial position, there is no reason or right to take a man's salary. Two words: class envy.

Also learn what the hell a false dichotomy is before you use it lol

John you gotta be f-ing kidding me. Bring up 9-11 to justify bieng in afghanistan! U forget GW went to war with Iraq after 9-11 which had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks. That's every hardcore rightwingers answer to any mistake of the bush era. Continue nut swinging, I'm done with this post:shoothead:

So we went to Iraq first after 9/11, it's a good idea you stay out of something that you have no clue what your talking about. I'm no Bush nutswinger that's for sure, he's no where near conservative enough for me. If it were me I would have turned them all into parking lots, then maybe some of these nut jobs would get the picture. You should have said :why:
