Hell yeah bud. The 700 raptors run good. Its "only" a 686cc. But the overall refinement of the quad is totally amazing. I cant wait to get it.

This is a sweet combo. Even better is the one with the burnt orange on it. Its just bad ass. I was looking at a set of maier plastics on ebay that I might buy. All black like my other one.

Wick, other than the different style power with the 450 and 700 motors, why choose a raptor over the YFZ or vice versa??? just curious. It seems like the 2004/5 YFZs are fairly cheap and easy to come by.
I'm assuming the 4V SOHC 686cc mill might have a little more reliability and life built into it as opposed to the high-strung 5V DOHC 449cc.

I can sum this up with one simple word my friend, REVERSE. HAHAHA Honestly, my cousins 450 rips. It really rips. Its just not my style. I actually almost bought one right before I got this. The bars are too low. Its just more based for a racing application. I like doing all of it. Track riding is a blast and so is woods riding. I feel the Raptor fits the catagory well. With only needing one real upgrade, front shocks, it suits the larger people good. Figure I am 6'1" and go about 250 lbs. The ergonomics of the Raptor are great. Seating position. Fantastic. Power is there. Now granted the 450 will spin way up to something like 12 or 13K while the Raptor peaks around 9K. The bottom end is just stump pulling on the Raptor. If you evey want to give it a test your more than welcome to.:awsome:

REVERSE? It weighs fiddy pounds less. You can get off and move it fairly easy. :rotflol: j/k.
Wick, are those quad 450's the same motors from the motocross bikes? If not, what are the differences?

I am almost positive they are. The only thing is the cam timing is retarded. You need to take them apart and put the intake cam back to TDC where it needs to be. Oh, and, I am a lazy ass!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA It might be fiddy less but the reverse button is only a reach away. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA:biglaugh: :rotflol:

You looking to get one?
I'm always looking for something. I sold my stang in July and it's starting to drive me nuts. I should be getting a company p/u truck in a few months. If that deal actually works out for me, I'll probably be off-roading again. Although, I've always been a two-wheeler. Last one I had was an '03 YZ250 2-smoke. My buddy had a honda 450r. The 250 2s and the 450 4s were very close in power, but I really liked the 4s characteristics in the woods better. Maybe I'm getting older or something, but quads just seem like more fun to me lately. I had a Suzuki quadsport 230 in 1989 and it was a blast. :sticktonge:

Yeah, the big bore thumpers are the way to go. You have tons of power and dont have to rev the shit out of it.

I just bought a brand new 2006 CRF250R and its pretty fast, and if I were looking for a new sport atv it would be a 2007 HONDA TRX450R, it has a much more comfortable riding position than the YFZ, and more power than the raptor 700, my buddy has a 2006 450R quad and it is mean.
