They have been looking great as of late. So much for Pittsburgh sports team needing new facilities to play well. Pirates are proof of that. Lets put a dome on PNC Park, ice it over and give it to the Pens. F' the Buccos. Never liked baseball much anyway.

THey have been doing pretty well this year. I've been watching their games whenever I can lately and I'm glad more than one of our teams is doing decent this year. We all know the pirates couldnt pull off a winning season if it was given to them.

i hope this city doesn't let them go, they have a very promising future. the pirates have more history than any sports team in this city but i would rather see them go before the pens....at least they want to win and make the effort

I am a huge hockey fan and have been since the Pens won the cup in the early 90's This years team reminds me of the Lemeiux/Jagr era when they first started getting hot together. The pens look very good now, but are a VERY young team. I won't be disappointed if they don't make the playoffs or don't go far in the playoffs. IF the team is still in PGH, then the pens will be a VERY good team in the next 2-3 years provided they keep the talent they have already.

oh yea, spectacular idea.. let's F up the most beautiful stadium in the nation b/c a few Tards don't like baseball... its nothing against you personally, but i get sick of all the speds and their slander against baseball... the only ppl that feel the way you do about baseball are the ones that weren't good enough to play past little league...
however, back on topic, the pens do look great as of late, and all we can hope for is that they get a new arena!! i honestly believe that if we can keep the crop of youth that we have now, Pittsburgh (hopefully not KC) will have a Stanley Cup in the next 4-5 years...

i'd say there more than a few tards that dont like baseball since they played at 60% capacity all season in their beautiful staduim... at least the players feel great losing in a nice stadium and fans have extra seats to put their coats on.... 4th lowest attendance in 2006 in the MLB, and so much for their excuse that a new stadium would bring in more $ and better players

see, that's a flawed argument.. the low attendance has NOTHING to do with people not liking baseball... its that they don't wanna spend the big money to go and watch a loosing team...
And, u don't know if that's true - about thought that a new stadium would bring more attendance/better players... i was still in high school when that kinda controversy was being fought over; however, i will say, its NOT the lack of love for baseball that causes low attendance... its Kevin McClatchy's (sp?) lack of brains to actually spend a little bit of money. If you don't bring in good players, the team sucks, and no one wants to come see them play.... A beatiful stadium isn't going to attract players to a team... $$ is... yea, if a player is torn b/w two teams with similar millions on the table, it could be a persuasive factor - but when you aren't gonna spedn the bucks to have a good team, no one is gonna care...

01-22-2007, 03:23 PM
first off, i remember the argument of the pirates getting better being used when the should the pirates get a new stadium idea came up.... 15 years of having poo for an owner and poo for a team creates a city that doesnt like baseball... i go to a few bucs games every year just to go... not to watch a great team, or to see the new staduim but just for fun....weird that the cubs were worse than the bad ole buccos this year but were 6th in attendance.....
back to the topic.... just like the good old days, 3 of the top 50 in points are pens and most surprising the #8 recchi with 42 pts:pepper:

The pirates couldn't get a sold out crowd when they were in the PLAYOFFS back in the early 90's. They were one game away from the WORLD SERIES and it didn't sell out! That was before McClatchy, the front office wouldn't spend the money to keep top players. Pittsburgh is NOT a baseball town pure and simple. Is there a waiting list for Pirate tickets like the Steelers even when the Steelers have a losing season? No. As far as tickets costing "big money" thats horses**t. You can get tickets for $6. Even buy one get one. Some of us were playing midget football and laughing at the pusses playing baseball, but thanks for the quote- unquote personal attack.
P.S. The farm league Pirates SUCK ASS!

alright pens win in shootout... Fleury played great. no score from sid in shootout again... hes getting too fancy i think. just needs to go out and shoot that shit. hes got a good shot and quick hands, i think he could fool a lot of keepers with just a good quick wrister through the 5 hole. just MHO.

Yes the games are very exciting. It is depressing to see that the pens gave a up 3-0 lead and got lucky they tied it up in the 3rd period. They cannot do these things in the playoffs, but they are playing very well.
That toronoto player did get his block knocked off. Glad he is doing OK.
New Jersey lost today, so we are 7 points from 1st place in our division. 3 wins and if Jersey is on a slump, were in 1st place. :woot1:
