View Full Version : Tire sizing question..

Well, i'm on my way here in a week or so to get tires..The Cobra R's are 17x9s..I have 245/45/17s on them now..Can I go to a 255/45/17 in the rear, and then 245/45/17 in the front?..Maybe even 265 in the rear? Let me know what you think..

on a nine inch wheel you should be fine with a 255

you can run a 275/4017 on a 9 inch rim. the tire bulges out a little but it looks sweet on the rear.

Most 275's don't bulge at all on a 9" rim. You can even get certain 315's back there. A 315 Nitto looks perfect IMO. A 315 sumitomo will fit too. They bulge a little, but look pretty good and they're dirt cheap. I certainly wouldn't put anything less than a 275 on the back with a 9" wide wheel. It looks really narrow.

Yeah I have 245/45/17s in the back, and they look rather skinny..So what I think I'm gonna' do is try with the 265/275 in the rear and 245 up front..we'll see how that works out, and possibly go a little bigger next time around..


EDIT: Scrap that idea, gonna' go with 275/40/17s on the rear..waiting on a call back from my tire guy..this is gonna' look sick..w00t! thanks for the help and opinions guys!!

agreed 100%... a 275 would be the normal size tire on a 9" wide wheel.... a wider can be done with certain brands
