Just ordered my 4.10s and tlok rebuild kit as a birthday present to myself. Got the FRPP ones with a Motive Install kit and the FRPP 8.8 tlok rebuild kit. My friends and I are going to attempt the install. Just posting because I am excited haha. Anyway anyone have any tips on the install?:thmbsup:

My 3 friends all work at a car dealership as mechanics and the one guy has a mustang like mine he just did the gears in and did a 4v swap so he is pretty knowledgable and his gears are quiet so I figure we could all figure it out.

I have a pinion brg that's been honed to slide onto the pinion gear when trying different shims for the correct tooth pattern. It's not as nice as a pinion depth tool....but it'll get you there.
I have a feeling most people just use the same shim as what came out of it and call it good. I suppose that's a good starting place and then check teh tooth pattern.

Usually you can reuse the stock pinion shim, and try swapping the factory carrier shims side to side.. thats usually a great starting point..

Thanks for the advice guys I will probably have pics of the install next week.
Edit: Gonna need to save for a new clutch after these 4.10s and t-lok rebuild. First high rpm launch on heated ET Street Radials and my clutch will be toast. On the dyno I could smell hints of clutch also.
