I have an opportunity to get an Optima Battery for my 93 fox at nearly 50% off.
Can anyone tell me what group size will fit in my car and if I should get a Red or Yellow Optima?

I have till the end of May to get one so I want to take advantage of this great deal.

Where is this deal, i'm looking to buy a new yellow top & would love to find a nice price for one.
I want a 34/78 and the best I found one for is $189 shipped.
PM me if you wish to share the info.

What is the group size number on your battery?
Any issues with clearance on a stock hood?

I agree! I had three that went bad on me in the past and all where under a year old.

Sorry Don, I'm with these guys. Does your car really need it? I assume you wanted it just because of the sale.

I considered one untill I saw alot of negetive feedback.

i agree as well, optimas are shitty

i had excellent luck with a Napa Dry Cell battery..when i got mine about 3-4 years, lifetime warranty and if i remember correctly there a lot cheaper too then the optimas

I bought one, it went dead, returned it since they have (or at least had) a lifetime warranty and got a new one, and it has served me quite well with no problems for the last 4 years. Maybe everyone else in here just had bad luck.:dunno:

I've heard the negative feedback about Optimas as well, but I've had mine for 5 years, killed it twice by my own stupidity, and it's still going strong.

I do wonder if they have different plants making the batteries for different retailers, and if that's where the problems come in. I got mine at Summit.

If you go to Optima's site, you can select your car, engine, etc, and it will bring up a recommendation.

I'm not sure I will have to check. No issues with the hood. I'll let you know when I find out. I heard neg things about them also, but I haven't had mine long enough to give a good feedback.

II've had mine for 5 years

As best as I've been able to piece together, it seems that is the key. Seems like guys that have had them a while, love them. I'm not sure if they have changed something in the MFG process, location, quality, whatever, but it seems that most with newer one have had issues (or are going to have them). A few years ago there was a big discussion on these on another obard and ones that came from Costco where surving, other wern't. Again no idea if they where old stock, something special, or what.
