hey guys, i currently got a zx3 focus. I'm paying it off soon and im in the market for a mustang.

I want a cobra! I was wondering if you guys could push me in the right direction. I just wana make sure its the right one. The 2003 come supercharged?

With a couple mods such as; different sized pulley, intake and what others would you guys suggest to get. I definitly want it fast so im thinking cams lifters, new pistons and crank. I want it nice. So is that a good way 2 go or what other way should i go?

Do a full exhaust with either an X or H pipe and know cats, You will have to do a tune on it. You could do either a Kenny Bell, or a Whipple Super Charger.

Welcome BTW

Welcome!

Yeah, what everybody else already said:

smaller s/c pulley, intake, full exhaust and tune are the basics.

then, a few supporting mods maybe like the cooling mod on the head, bigger intercooler/heat exchanger.

you don't have to touch the inside of these motors unless you're planning on upping the boost to like 20-30 psi.

can that even be done with the stock blower?

Welcome to the site. If you are looking to get at least 600rwhp I'm pretty sure you are going to have to upgrade the blower to a twin screw like the Kenne Bell or Whipple. Most guys are getting around 500rwhp with porting of the stock eaton blower.

You have to ask if the 03 cobra comes with a blower but you know you want 600hp. I think you need to start small Im pretty sure that a stock 03-04 cobra will feel like a rocket coming from a ZX3. Best of luck in your cobra hunt.

You will never have to upgrade the cobra crank (well at least not for anything under 1000hp), and the pistons are fine as long as you have a good tune and dont boost 5th and 6th.

Read up and if you get one post pics.

i got a streetbike, trust me i like speed! lol.

slow01gt, im not that smart on blowers, what is a twin screw blower? Is that a special kind of one or is it a pullet that is different than stock?

i want the sweet sound of a camed car, so i want to do the following;
headers
downpipe
high flow car and cat back (true duals so the Hpipe instead of y pipe.)
lower like 2inches or so
cam
change blower pulley sizes
full intake
bigger injectors
computer

What else? when you guys name those different blowers, im taking it those are not the stock blowers? you refering to aftermarket new ones?

high flow car and cat back (true duals so the Hpipe instead of y pipe.) Car has True Duals stock its not a V6
lower like 2inches or so Sounds Realy Low to me
cam enjoy the labor rates
change blower pulley sizes Depends on blower
full intake CAI or RAI
bigger injectors 60 lb/hr
computer Tune

I dont care If you have a street bike you sound like your 15-16 not only do you know nothing about blowers you know nothing about cars. Please dont get a cobra casue I have read about 10 being totaled this month.

Welcome...

what kinda street-bike??

Oh, and if you're looking for that kind of power, you'll want to match one of those blowers with atleast a 6" downpipe....

The car won't see 600hp on a stock blower without nitrous/pulley/port. Pulley's alone are good for 500ish hp. Cam's aren't worth the labor, unless the engine is already out. You need to do some researching. Everything you'll ever need to know is out there on the forums. Not only on this site, but other modular websites as well.

The twin-screw blowers are aftermarket. They are positive displacement units similar to the stock supercharger but with a much more efficient internal rotor design.

peronally id get one as stock as possible with as low miles as possible and drive it for awhile there a car that you have to respect... they may only say 390 ftlb 390 hp but they just feel like a rocket out of the box! ull enjoy it for what it is and learn so much in a year. i was a big toyota guy and buick guy but i fell into an 03 cobra that i bought up in detroit the same day the pens played up there lol 18,700k miles for 24,500. and was mint..... :hyper::hyper::hyper: and it was only bc my buddy sold his camaro and im glad he did! i couldnt be happier!

At 21, you're going to pay out the nose for coverage on a Cobra... My Trans Am alone was 190/mo with Travelers... I shopped everywhere, and the next best price i could find was nearly double that much... The Cobra is going to be probably a little bit more, being that its factory HP rating is a bit higher...

Claims experience is the main driver behind insurance rates.. until you turn 25, any vehicle with a high accident rate per capita for that age-band is going to kill you... sportbikes, sports cars, anything.. if you wanna play, you gotta pay (a lot)

i got state farm and im payin 540 every 6 months for the focus. My insurance said a additional 250 so whats 790 every 6 months. They said the coupe is more expensive than the convertable. I thought it would be the other way around.

I'm 23 and I pay 40/month for full coverage on my camaro

the cummins on the other hand.... lol

anyways.... you should PROBABLY try doing the basic pulley/intake/tune/exhaust first. A good question to ask, is have you ever driven a 500+rwhp car on the street before? Most people I have ran into are more than content with just those mods. Granted I have limited mod motor knowledge, I've raced enough of them to know a little bit.

But you can just say screw that GM guy, he's a *****. and throw a 6" down pipe on it, convert it to ohv and put a 110 lsa cam in there, and put a freakin sweet blow off valve with a turkey call taped to it on.

x 2 !!!!!!!

The '03 - '04 Cobras are really quick right out of the box. If you buy a highly modded Cobra that has been improperly tuned you might be flushing your $$ down the toilet, so keep that in mind. Find a nice, relatively unmolested one and get familiar with it. The guys around here will then be able to point you in the right direction and you can develop a game plan for your mods with their help. There's no use in repeating mistakes that others have made. The Termey guys around here are a great resource, so learn from them. And don't take this personally, but you have to learn to drive a car with 390 horses before you can realistically handle something with 600+ rwhp.

Good luck in your quest - Termeys are AWESOME cars!

that makes sense, thanks for the advice. I'm gona keep that in mind for sure. I just need something better than my focus. Not that the focus is a bad car because it is but i want a car that doesnt take a day and a half to get to 60.

I was planning on getting something that someone else did not tinker with, just due to the pure fact that i dont know how mechanically inclind they areor how they did it. If they did it the correct way or half assed it.
