We took the Cobra out with a healthy fuel system last night. So this is the first time I had a chance to realy drive the car. All I can say is Oh my God. We put the laptop on it to datalog and after seeing that everything was in check it was time for the first pull. I have never in my life felt anything pull this hard but then again I have never been in a TS car before. It felt like the front end wanted to twist up for the entire pull and the IRS wanted to leave the car. That IRS was dancing all over the place under the car and it has never done that before. I cant wait to get it fine tuned and see what numbers it putting out. :highfive:

So twin screw guys, how long until I want more boost and mix gas. :hyper:

Here are a few pics. I know a few of you have been waiting to see the changes. (Thanks for the pics Bo)

Mike,
I am going to wait until Jon Lund is back in town. I wasnt expecting the car to drive as good as it does and I am not worried about driving it to Carlisle like it is. It seems to drive better than it did with the ported eaton tune. If I remember right the timing in the current tune is turned down so it sure still have a few HP left in it.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I am sure glad everything is working. I know numbers are not everything but since I made a pull with the ported eaton on Mike's dyno I can't wait to see what the new numbers are.

PS dont mind the hood prop. I was in a hurry to get to to Wolfpack and didnt have time to take it off. LOL

Gawd! I do good work! :innocent: :sticktonge: All that work and it wasn't a damn thing we did, it was the so called pro's,(*cough* lethal *cough*) that left us sitting on the dyno. (well, it really didn't get dynoed at all but, he paid for it.) It's good that they knocked ONLY $50 bucks off for there mistake in wiring! What customer service. What a deal!

The best part is that zone-5 was selling the MDM jr for $50 off so Lethal didn't give me crap. I never had anyone yell at me on the phone like Jared did. He is a hell of a guy with great customer service! :rotflol: Oh then I had to ask him about why I had to pay shipping back to them for a mistake they clearly made. Weeee he gave me $8! No wait...I am still waiting for the check! What a joke that place is. I know I didnt purchase directly from him BUT they made the part so I had every right to call him. After all Fore worked with me on the fuel hat issue.

Thanks for all the complements. I love how it turned out and stood looking at it thinking...That is exactly what I wanted from the day I saw my first 03-04 Cobra. I have a few dress up items to put on the car for Carlisle but my major concern was getting it running.

What tires do you run? I hope they're sticky :)

I am running BFG T/A KDs (17x315 and 17x275). I have no plans to run DRs on the street after reading about five or so Cobras being destroyed. It looks like they ran DRs daily and ended up skidding off the road in the rain. Not that I drive my car in the rain but there is always the chance of a storm ticking up around here.

I hear you but I'll take the other side on that debate.
I drove over 12k on Nitto DRs with both my '01 and '04 Cobras and didn't have an issue. I drove them in all conditions except snow. They are safe IMO in the rain if you are not a dumbass and know your car and your limits.
I prefer to have real traction and I didn't even have your power level.
Better control the 95% of the time you're driving in dry weather makes more sense to me.
If I had a Cobra now it would be wearing 305/35/18 Nitto 555 R2s, the road course version with the drag radial compound and a slightly stiffer sidewall. Bo ran those ask him what he thought.
I would not run MT or BFGs daily and yes I've had both.
Not wanting to argue just my opinion that you'll never fully enjoy that power w/o a sticky tire. :goodidea:

I'd have to agree. I'm a good 100 hp less than you and I'd never run anything other than a drag radial on my car. My car had bald nittos on it when I got it and even they were fine in the rain. Currently I run MT's which are way better than nittos in the traction department, but they do suck in the rain. I have two other wheels with street tires that I use for long trips like going to carlisle or the beach.

Well since the bank account is dry I will just have to stick with the sucky BFGs for now.

I also need an stronger clutch with 28 spline input shaft, aluminum diff bushings, beefy toe link bars and a bunch of other IRS stuff. But I am open to donations if you are concerned about my tires. :goodidea:

It won't be long till you want more boost. I run 16# on 93 and 19# on 93/torco mix. Definitely quite a difference. I'd say drag radials at the very least on tires. I run all weather ones, and the couple times I tried for fun they did not hook for shit until 3rd gear. I'm trying to save for more parts, so making the tires last is one of my priorities now haha. Pretty sad having that power and driving it around like a grandpa, oh well just temporarily till I graduate this year:goodidea: Have fun with it, I have the polished 2.2 myself and it really brings these cars alive. When I first drove mine with a base tune in it. Felt like an animal, only for me to find out it had a 10.4 a/f hah. Once it was dyno tuned, it felt great. I still swear with the power and his tuning capabilities. The car feels better than stock.

o4c0b|2a,
What pulley combo are you running to get 16#? I am running a 3.0 upper and a stock lower. How much better did it feel after it was tuned?

o4c0b|2a
05-27-2009, 10:59 AM
Well I have a stock lower currently. Stock lower with Billetflow 3.10 upper I believe for 16#'s. 2.93 Billetflow w/stock lower for 19#'s. You should see about 17#'s i'd imagine. Car felt great. Drives smooth. Power comes on strong. I also had the PPRV removed so shifting is nice as well with no hesitation anymore. His base tunes are super on the rich side (like I said 10.4 a/f).

My tunes are:
16# 93 octane, 18* timing. A/F 11.7 Numbers 546/495 tq.
19# 103 octane, 18* timing A/F 11.7 Numbers 580/534 tq

I've been told I can could run more timing on the 19# tune, I just like to play it safe. A lower pulley is coming soon, (would like to see a little more tq). The shit never ends with these cars.

Good to see another kenne bell cobra get finished, I drive around on nitto drag radials and never had an issue with them. but i also hardly ever drive my car it seems. And they still dont hook till like 3rd gear. The power will fill good for about 3 months i would say lol. then you will need and want more. I am running a 2.2 on pump gas with 19s. car makes 643 558. on a really wicked tune, but like i said i dont drive it much and wanted every bit i could out of pump gas.

I may be wrong but the only way you would get more tq is if you have belt slip at the hit. I have talked to many people about this and came to that conclusion myself. Like I said I could be wrong.

Bish,
We need to meet up some time this summer. :goodidea:

wickedsnake03,
I was going for a 19lbs setup but Lund said he wouldnt tune a car that was pushing it that hard on 93 so I caved. lol I guess at that boost you also have to trade off some timing. So its either lower boost with more timing or higher boost with less timing. Or you can through race gas at it and have both. :goodidea: I am not sure what would make more power on pump but I have a few parts that should help. I am still learning and I am sure I will push it a bit harder later.

If i drove the car more i would have gone safer i think. anything around the 600hp mark is really a strong car. and these cars drive sooo nice for the power that they make, which is really a plus. Its great to get on the highway put it in 6th gear and just pull any hill you find without even building boost.
