a flash tuner changes perameters in your ecu like fuel and timeing, when your fans kick on all kinds of crazy stuff.

so getting one of these tuners will give me more power? or is there other things i need to buy?

from the factory the tune on your car is rich on fuel and not as aggresive as it could be. so leaning out your fuel and adjusting your timeing will give you more horse power, i recomened taking it to a shop for the tune if you have never done it before.

no i didnt do the gears. the previous owner did that himself.

i like diablosport but some guys swear by sct. i would do some reserch and talk to guys that have em on the same car you do. and for the blower, HELL YEAH. if you can swing it you will get alot more power from a power adder. but imo a tuner will def be needed if you do get a blower:thmbsup:

I put the jlt intake on mine with a sct tuner. the intake requires a tune anyway. Very noticable difference. I am running a 93 octane torque tune. I bought my tuner used and cheap. I then had to order a tune which was emailed to me and put that on the ecu. Worked great. I am looking to do gears next. I already have flowmasters. I havent decided if I want to go with a supercharger or instead go with cams and all that. Love the sound of cams on these cars.
Also, visually, if your not lowered, you ought to be. It can be done pretty cheaply. I shortened the fishing pole antenna to look better. Different rear spoiler. Just do what you like. Everyone has their own opinions on what looks good.

thats pretty nice. i have given the supercharger a lot of thought but, havent bought one yet. i wanna get a tuner first do you have any suggestions

Most sc's for your car come with a tuner so buying one seperate would be a waste of money.
I believe the tunes stored are also different than an off the shelf one..

ya thats true. thanks man. what if i wanted to go the cam and heads route. what would be the best to purchase?

I dont claim to know alot about a cam and head swap, but from what I understand you can probably get away with about half the cost of a supercharger. You will probably only get about half the horsepower increase too. For some of us, thats enough. What I am curious about is daily driver issues (gas mileage) and all that. Not that I really care. The easiest thing to do is buy the supercharger and your done. I use the word "done" loosely! Just keep in mind. If your going to buy a supercharger, dont waste your money buying an intake, tuner, underdrive pulleys, ect....You will just have to take most of it off.

the standard hp kit(420hp) is $4421 and the high output kit (460hp) is $5683.. installation on these kits ranges from $450-$650, i could make you a package deal on the kit and installation labor.. and you will need it tuned, i can get this done for $350..
Brandon34

yeah thats sounds about right.. what kind of package deal? because i have a uncle who owns a garage and he said he would install it for me

My 07 GT had an SCT tuner, JLT intake, off road x pipe, flowmaster axle back, underdrive pulleys, and 4.30 gears. It ran 12.8-12.9 @ 108 on the stock rubber at PRP with these mods. I have most of this stuff for sale in the classified section.
I would say the tune and gears made the most difference. In my opinion 3.73's are not enough for these cars.

see i really like the 3.73 gears, i almost got 4.10s though
07Alloy
07-20-2009, 07:10 PM
4.10's are on my short list. Also, I have been thinking about charge motion delete plates. From what I understand, you can just modify the stock ones too.

sorry im not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to cars. what are charge motion delete plates
07Alloy
07-20-2009, 08:51 PM
To put it simply, there are plates right below your intake runners that contain butterfly valves which open and close. You can buy new plates that delete the butterflys thus improving air flow. You need to update the tune with these. Steeda makes a set I know.

sounds good. is it worth it? what does this cost?

I think you only see a small gain when you are pretty much stock. If you start adding mods like a supercharger, then they are more beneficial. From what I have heard, the stockers can be modified to resemble the aftermarket ones. I have seen a write-up on one of the other sites. I will see if I can find it. Otherwise the cost is 100-200 bucks I think. Most say they are worth it in the long run.

I am like 99% sure they get deleted with the edelbrock supercharger kit...

the edelbrock kit uses the tvs blower from eaton, it seems to really be the hit with the shelbys.. I know evolution performance installs a ton of them and i hear nothing but great things..

Not if you buy a good kit from a reputable company and there are a some good options available. I switched from a S/C to a turbo and would never go back. Can't beat the "free" power. ;)

What all does the 427R package get you? Seems like a lot of money to me. If you research the mods and have a local shop do the install, I'd think you'd end up with a car that could easily outrun a 427R and have money left over...
If you're expanding your budget a little from your original amount, check into the Kenne Bell superchargers. They make a ton of torque down low and have a built-in intercooler. They seem to have a great design. Last time I looked into them the kits were a little over $5k. Throw in the needed clutch upgrade, lowering springs, rims/tires, and maybe some brakes and there's not much else you could do!
Good luck! :goodidea:
