My hubby is a member of the Drifters Car Club in Pgh. and owns a 1927 Tall T, a 1940 Plymouth Business Coupe and a 1963 Corvair Spyder.

welcome, i guess
i saw your banner at the drive in a few weeks ago and checked out the site and then i saw this on your website under cars
We are trying to make this a semi-exclucive type of show because we are all a little tired of seeing new Mustangs and plastic cars littering the local shows we go to. If you have a heavily modified "Superfly Pimp Mobile", I probably wouldn't turn you away at the door. I'm talking old school Pimp, not the modern "Rims" Pimp though.

wow i take offense.. :jaw-dropping::busted::thumbsdown:
I understand you have a niche and cult following - which is cool; to each their own, that's what makes this hobby fantastic. But if you're gonna make an effort to slam those not like you, then I'm slamming the door on attending.
Anyone have a flat black Mustang with red rims for sale?

I belong to the Drifters car club and the Mustang thats in my avatar every day. We don't let any of the newer cars in because we try to make the show look as if it where the 50's and 60's with the pin-up contest, flame thrower contest, and the rockabilly and blues bands.

i have no problem with the event and the cars you want to show up. obviously i was interested because i checked out the site a few weeks ago when i saw the banner at the drive in. then i saw what the site said about mustangs. i just think its odd to join a mustang site and promote an event that singles out the mustang as the type of car they dont want at the event.

i think you have to attend one of these kind of events before you make up your mind... like someone stated earlier, that is the greatness of the hobby that each individual can have their own likes and dislikes. i say, give it a try!

Yep, PJ I guess I will not be attending that event either. I wouldn't want to offend anyone with my plastic car Mustang.

I don't see anything wrong with it. The club is looking for a certain theme, and late model mustangs don't fit.
Just like the GM people that are on this board. Would you be upset if they invited you to an LS1 shootout but you couldn't enter your car?

To me it's just like people who join the board to advertise and do not want to pay the price to support the site. Insulting late model Mustang owners is not what I look for in a new member here.
Besides that, once you limit yourself to a certain "group" of people you will have a hard time finding those people anyway, so the problem will take care of itself.

Pre 65 Cars Only Please!

Nothing wrong with an event for specific cars, just advertise it that way, and if someone shows up with a car that does not measure up to your standards, turn them away. There is no need to slam guys who have an interest in cars that is different from yours. I may not like the vehicle you drive, but I do appreciate the time and effort you put in to it.
"a semi-exclucive type of show"- Interesting description and spelled wrong.
And what the hell is a "Superfly Pimp Mobile" ? Please post some pics.

I completely understand what you guys are saying. I guess I like rat rods and 50's-60's theme stuff so I have no problem with it. :)

Wow. If you don't want to come to the show, don't. I wasn't necessarily advertising the Shakedown, just thought it might be kind of fun to meet some of you. Now, not so much. Sorry to cause the collective panty bunching. I am not even a member of the Drifters, my husband is. Thanks to those of you that offered the sincere welcomes though.

Here's one... can't find a Mustang with this theme, but I'm sure one exists somewhere.
