no i went to do it myself...oil leaking everywhere.... motor needs pulled to get tube out. (second mechanic looked at it) im loosing too much oil to drive it anywhere....

the headers are sealed to the heads....you can see the adhesive....no bolts in one collector.

i was too eager to buy.

need to be at 1k or under including install cost.

02-10-2007, 06:09 PM
wow... i had no issues the few times i drove it...

adhesive on headers?? didn't see that

had no exaust leak (would've leaked if missing bolt)

also had no oil stains in driveway...

i only drove car 4-5 times...

it's crazy to pull motor for an dipstick, motor runs strong...

Oil leaking everywhere is probably from the dipstick not being in it? How far down in the block did the tube break off?

Check this, its got to come out, can't be in that tight, people just want your money. If its rusty soak it with some penetrating oil. Gotta improvise a little. Hope this helps

Jared, have you done a leak down test? It takes a lot to hurt these things. I agree with the post above about the dip stick. It shouldn't need pulled to get it out.

I agree with Don,it might take a little work but it's not the end of the world. But if that motor is messed up other ways, there is one on wv streets with aod trans for 300 supposedly came out of a 90.

i also offered to help & im not gettin any responce either...

because i was gone all day visiting family

plate got sent back to me...i fvcked up the addy. it went out express today. be there monday. sorry about that.

i am having a hard time with this because my tools are limited, i have no place to work..thats the only downside to moving into our new townhouse. i typed this while still peeved off. my bad

for some reason 3 of the header bolts will not thread back in.,....two of us tried....i stopped working on it when i sheered off a collector stud to the H pipe. thats the header problem....i looked again befor typing this...its not adhesive on headers....it might just be the type of gasket used. so i know the car needs a new collector stud and 3 header bolts....plus fixing the dipstick tube. i have put some silicone over the tube hole so i could make it to the house again, cause i was worried after seeing what all was lost.

this motor does run strong and smooth...i know it....just makes me mad how hard this tube is being,. i was wanting a driver.

wick i wanted to try myself once before giving in....i hate depending on people to do shit for me...but in the end i always end up fvcking myself over.

if i can fix this motor like you said...then ill take the extra money and put towards the motor a guy is giving me to start stroking. he is giving me a SB out of a police 5.0 with a set of p&p stock heads from a local shop. i pick it up monday or wednesday.... hell wick id even give you this motor for payment. :)

Jared, don't waste your time and money in swapping in a set of ported stock heads, even if they are free. Its a waste of time and money IMO. Just get the dip stick fixed and enjoy the car until you are ready for a set of decent heads. It doesn't sound like this car is too far from being just a driver, stick with it and it'll be OK!

Jared, It does sound like these people your taking your car to are trying to take your money. Also you don't need a new motor because the dipstick is broke off in the block. Geting a new stud for the exhaust is typical, they break thats why I got bolts in mine and the header bolts can be a mf'r the threads prob need cleaned up. Take it to someone on here that offered to help you.

And Welcome to the nickel and dime foxbody community--you ain't seen nutin yet.

Well, if you're all ready to swap the engine, why not drive it? Worst that could possible happen is you run it out of oil and have to change the engine anyways.

Grab a wooden dowel rod, file it in a cone shape until it fits. Jam it in there with enough sticking out so I or whoever is fixing it for you can get it out. Make the piece of wood about 4 inches long. Shit, now that I think about it, thats what I would do to fix it. HAHAHA When the low oil level light comes on add a quart.:biglaugh:

i pm'd rodeheaver again. if he can fix it for under $200 im taking it there. this is taking too long and i wanna drive it. im trying to find a tow dolley or trailer to take it up there.

my uncle has a nice car trailer but i think he has a couple of his toys sitting on it (vette's and mini coopers)
