fuel pump

doing an intank fuel pump on my fox. have a small question before I put it back together. This may be difficult to explain... have almost everything back together. in the bracket that the pump sits in, there is the thick rubber hose, the little wiring harness, and another little metal tube that runs beside the big rubber hose but does not connect up to anything. On the end of it when I took it out was this mangled little orange rubber cap that had a small slit in it. is that rubber cap crutial? As stated, mine is ruined and that is the only thing that didnt come in the new kit. Can I just leave it off? or where do I get another? Thanks in advance!! :thmbsup:

It's a diffuser for the return, and sort of acts like a check valve. For anyone else I wouldn't think it would hurt to leave off. For that car I wouldn't trust anything. Seems it's that spot in the garage that is cursed.

I know!! I need to move it to the other bay!! screwed up part is that is the same side the black car was on!! YIKES!!! maybe its not bermuda triagle, maybe its bermuda bay!! So now I got to hunt one of these down!!
