Im in the market for some 17" drag radials and was wonderin about the Micky thompson et street radials. I had the BFG DR's before and loved how they hooked but I didnt even get the whole summer out of them. I didnt know if the mickys had deeper tread or how they handled normal driving. I put about 1000 miles a year on the car and I might make it to prp once or twice and hit up the FLD as much as I can. Also I might consider the nittos DR's. I just dont like havin extra wheels and swapin them out all the time. Thanks for any imput

They're good as long as you don't do any burnouts on the street. We got really stupid one day at a cookout with my buddys car and ruined a set in one day.:innocent:

I have 20 strip passes and approx 1000 mi on a pair of Nitto DR's....they still have 50% tread left on them. They work pretty well with enough heat put into them...

For a street and drag tire.....i recommend them.

I hear that BFG's and sticky Mickey's won't last nearly as long....but are obviously stickier.

Also...i think the Nitto's would be better in the rain.

Mickeys hook the best but wear out faster than the BFG's.
Nitto's hook the worst but last the longest. These are based on my experience.

I would have to disagree here. I ran the MT's in the street and they wore great, much better than the BFG's. I know a few guys that got over a couple thousand street miles with 20+ passes at the strip too. I got rid of them as my street tire because at high speed they are very unstable. Forget any kind of cornering at moderate speed and at high (80+) MPH even going straight on the street gets interesting. They were real bad in the rain the few times I got caught too. They do hook like a mofo at the red light though

You may want to avoid the better hooking MT Drag radials if you have the stock 28 spline axles. You could break a stock axle on the MT's with good hook at the track. Just one more thing to consider. I know several people will say the stock axles are fine, but I have also seen videos of cars turning 90 degrees and wrecking due to broken axles.

I bought these off of Mike and I don't have any handling complaints at all but I run 28-30# in them on the street.

Maybe you use so much Zaino Mike that it makes the car too slippery for the wind! lol

I ran these on the street and they wore out VERY fast. I think this was mostly my fault though. No burnouts, but they gummed up real bad from taking turns too fast. That's the only explanation I can think of because I would always push them to the limits around turns just to see how much they could take. Only got about 2000 miles out of them.

I was going to get a set to try. I ran the BFG DR before, wasnt impressed at all. I did buy a set of Drag-Lites from the body builder......I may run an ET Street?

Tom, I run the Nittos on the street. 275/40/17. I think they will work okay for you. Much better in the rain and getting alot of life out of them.

That's the tire I run all the time now for that very reason.
