Time to give back to the Internet. :awsome:

Here's a project I've been wanting to do since I bought my 06 GT - replace my factory trucker mirrors. I looked at Agent 47 and various mirror covers but IMO neither was the right solution. I bought a set of 2010 mirrors from Ford and here's the result and process if you're interested in this mod:

Left and Right Comparison:

INSTALLATION
The 2010 mirrors obviously don't come with instructions. And as of today, they're not available prepainted. Here's a brief description of the process. Unfortunately it's not plug-and-play...

1) From the inside, remove the triangular plastic panel. It pops right off.

2) Disconnect the wiring harness from the plastic panel (there are two on the driver side).

3) Remove the three nuts that are attached to the mirror studs. Hold the mirror because it will fall off the door.

Now the fun begins:

4) On the new mirror clip off the two plastic studs. It's best to carefully remove the triangular foam padding in order to clip close to the base of each stud.

5) The 2010 metal studs do not align perfectly with the factory holes, so get out the drill. The two holes towards the back of the car need to be made larger, and a new hole needs to be drilled towards the front of the car. Cover the exterior of your door to prevent scratches and the interior to prevent metal shavings from falling inside the door panel. Test fit your parts first and wear goggles before drilling.

6) Test fit for accuracy. If okay, you can sand or file the metal burrs, and paint the bare metal with touch up paint.

7) Install the new mirror using the reverse procedure mentioned above (3, 2, 1). Take time to position the mirror over the exterior trim in the same position as the OEM.

Here are the tools I used, plus a vacuum...

Nice, definitely a huge improvement over the stockers. I went with the Agent 47s and I'm ok with them. Takes a bit to get used to the smaller mirror.

Thanks for the positive feedback. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to help.

I was close to the A47 mirrors - they're also a good choice!

NICE! I love subtle mods like that. They look like they should have been on that car from the day it was made!
