I am currently running a stock 87 5.0 Hatch with an AOD. I have a few spare parts and I am trying to figure out how to use them. Please take a look at the following two links and let me know which computer this is. I am hoping this computer will help with either an AOD -> T5 conversion OR a Speed Density -> Mass Air converstion. There are no stickers on the computer case, just the computer connector.
Thanks.

SFI-SD3

Looks like it is a speed density version of the EEC-IV.

Thanks for the quick reply. So the computer will not help with the Mass Air swap. Does the Speed Density computer come in Automatic and Manual transmission versions? Can the computer from a SD Auto be used after swapping to a T5, besides of talk about KOEO code errors? If so, does anyone have a link to a detailed how to process? Thanks.

Can the computer from a SD Auto be used after swapping to a T5, besides of talk about KOEO code errors? When I converted MAF to SD on my 93 GT I used a computer sourced from an 5.0L auto car. (It was said that the 5-speed computers pulled some timing on the upshifts)

WOW. Most tell me to ditch SD and go Mass Air to handle flow and cam changes. Why did you go the other way?

It was basically a bolt-on car @ that point with stock H/C/I. I had attained a 12 sec. timeslip with the MAF and *thought* I could go deeper into the 12's with a SD swap. The swap was performed and some street driving was all the SD combo ever would see. H/C/I swap took precedence over the mid 12 sec. goal and I haven't looked back since. It would be nice to start with a bare-bones SD coupe with the earlier pre August 8, 1988 HR cam (less aggressive cam lobe profile August 8th 1988- on) and make another run for the mid 12 sec. zone. Taking into consideration the cam revision, SD, and the svelte weight of the coupe, that would be the *ultimate* stocker.

I swaped out my SD harness and ECU in my 88 and put in a 88 cali. harness and ECU and I noticed a loss in power switching to the mass air.
