I need some advice. While out trolling for parts I came across a guy working on a project Falcon. He had an 8.8 rear for the car but later got a 9 inch. He was wondering if I would like the rear for 75.00 dollars.
The rear is out of (he thinks) a Lincoln Mark VII – 1991. It is a complete rear, all hoses, calipers, rotors, axles and gears. The rear is not a TracLoc unit, but an open rear with 307 (?) gears. So I know I will want to replace the differential and gears seat. What intrigues me is whether I can use this rear as is for a drum to disc brake conversion. All the brakes parts are there. If the axle is not too wide and the control arms mounts line up, this should work, right?
I already have a GT master cylinder and booster in the shed. I would need an adjustable proportioning valve. Anyone know where I can get the plug used to gut and cap the stock proportioning valve?
