guys you gotta help me, I need forced induction on my '05 V6 but i dont know which route to take. do i go supercharger and have instant boost but lose power due to running off the block? or do i go turbo and have torbo lag but no loss in power? and i if i do turbo, how many and how big?:duh:

how mechanically inclined are you? A supercharger can be installed, tuned, and forgotten, but a turbo will need some tlc in my opinion..

I agree with Tim... a supercharger kit can be bought, installed, tuned and you're done...

A turbo kit will probably need to be custom made

However, with turbos you can make more power and you can easily adjust boost on the fly... each system has its advantages and disadvantages to the other..... I am partial to turbos (obviously) ... and the turbo lag issue can be mostly taken care of if you do lots and lots of research and choose the right turbo for your needs/goals... it'll never snap off the way a roots/twin screw will, but you won't have the hardcore lag that 4 cyl imports have... furthermore, the modern ball-bearing turbos don't lag much... To decide what turbo you need to get, you have to decide upon a power goal and go from there...

if you're looking for the quick fix and want to get power without hassel, go with one of the numerous supercharger kits out there ... or nitrous ..... u can probably install it yourself... But if you're damn good with a welder adn have lots of spare time, you can't beat a turbo setup :goodidea:

i think it would be safe to say that either could push the short block to its limits..

and if you get the right turbo i feel it would make boost faster than a blower, unless you do a roots or a twin screw..

There was a shop up near Erie that I can't remeber the name of that made '05-up V6 turbo kits. Sutton and powerhouse come to mind as the possible name of the place. I saw the test car in a Garrett turbo booth a number of years ago at WFC I believe.

What are your power goals? We can make more reccomendations if we know what your ultimate power goals are.

i would like to be around 350 hp and torque about the same. im not sure if that un-realistic for a V6 but thats what i would like to be at.

An x charger would get you around 300 or so.

I have an X-charger. It is not quite 300 to the wheels. If I were to do it again, I would go to Terry at Street Lethal and have him fab up a turbo. There's a lot of guys on other forums running low boost and making around 350rwhp. It can easily get you close to 400. Don't get me wrong, I love my x-charger, but the extra 50 or so horses would be nice. Terry did a great job on my gears (motive 4.10's and no whine whatsoever) and he does a lot with turbos. Check out his section on here. It's just my opinion, but if you want the most power, go turbo. You really won't lose much down low from everything I've read. Besides the 4.0 is pretty damn torquey out of the hole as it is!

If you have any questions about the X-charger, please feel free to ask. I can answer almost anything about it!
