I think this thread being called "Project wire tuck" is the most misleading advertising I've seen since Obama's campaign...

Seriously - Rob - WOW!!! - everything looks fantastic! I can't wait to see it when you're "done."

Keep up the good work!! Spring will be here...someday...

HAHAH Yeah. I should have thought of something else to call it. But it just kinda snowballed. I initally started this whoile thing by just doing a heater core. Then out came the engine, sold it and got carried away. Big time. As it started to grow I couldnt really start a new thread so I just continued this one. Wait till the rear end next. My Eaton carrier is sitting in the nice warm box waiting to be installed. But, my garage is finally getting some room again as parts are finding their way on the car.

Nothing special. Just a "tool" I made. A intercooler piping pressure tester. Added the extra schrader valve on the other side to "charge" the BOV. It has to be pressurized to hold boost. Just about done here. Meter is supposed to be here tomorrow. Then its the final few things and it will start.

If Pro-M would quit dicking me around I would have started it this weekend. All thats left is the rad hoses, clutch cable and intercooler piping from the meter to throttle body. Hook the A/C lines up. Might be 1 or 2 things I overlooked but I dont think.

I think I might take the P/S pump back off and paint the resivoir. It looks terrible. Have not decided yet. Might as well I guess. Gone this far with it. Once it runs, its off to the rear end. I'll throw pics of those parts up later.

HAHAHAH Thats the plan this time. I am done taking this car apart. I spend more time making it nice than I do driving it. Time to enjoy this thing man. There really isnt anything else to do to it other than converting to black interior. I was going to re-paint this year but decided to wait till next year. That will be the final thing getting done. I should have the Stalker cover back on and clean it off today. Not really much I can puts with until the meter gets here. I knew I should have gone somewhere else. I cant believe this. They say the weather and the "shipping" department is the cause of this. Chris and Shaun are both full of shit!!!

rob, are you running solid motor mounts? reason im asking is cause of motor flex, will that do anything to the way your piping for charger goes threw side clip there. looks awesome by the way.:goodidea:

Troy, with the 8" lower and 3.33 upper, this is about the only length belt I could use. Its a 57.5 length. I am sure the belt will stretch a little abd give me a tiny bit more room. I did a lot of search on which one to use and measured a ton. Next option is to turn a couple thousandths off the Votech water pump pulley right at the edge. Currently, the belt is about an inch from the other side at the contact point.

Rob, I have Energy susp poly mounts in now. With the coupler, it should have enough give to allow any engine movement to not cause any problems. I made the holes a little larger than what was needed and ran a piece of vacuum line split down the center as a cushion/noise barrier. My old combo made a nice rattle noise without that done. Thanks also man!!

What did you end up doing for the throttle cable bracket?

wick
02-14-2010, 08:28 PM
CC's are AJE. Throttle cable is a braided stainless one. I modified the stock bracket. A little trimming, cutting and re-welding and it fit. I had to shave a good bit for the IAC though. That was the hardest part. I think if I ever go to a FAST system or an AEM, I will incorporate a GM IAC and flip the TB over. I was going to do it this time but it just didnt look right with the huge Ford IAC motor.

I hear ya Ron. Its more of I want to get it running now. Once it runs and I get some idle time on it with a few warm ups to make sure everything works like the fans and there are no glitches, I can relax some. Take the rear out and polish the inlet pipes to the T/B. The rear end shouldnt take more than a weekend. Just swapping out the carrier to the eaton and installing the FMS cover, and arms.

You need to rotate all of your clamps around 180 degree too so the ugly ass T-bolts are on the bottom side of the piping.

Also, why did you put the filler spout on the Driver's valve cover? I think the breather would look better ther and the filler back in the stock location.

The breather wouldnt fit there with the piping. Only other way would be to lengthen the pipe going into the throttlebody and bring it out some. The way those covers are it would be in the rear of the passenger side. I actually have another K&N breather I wanted to use. The plan was to run 2 of them. I thought of the clamps too. It would look better like you say.

Not sure whats going on here but for some reason I keep intermittently losing MAF voltage at PIN 50 on the computer. Idles great then the voltage drops out and it stalls. Did a few quick checks with the multimeter and the wiring is good so far. I have to run the flow chart for MAF diagnostics and see whats going on. My buddy and I are both strongly leaning towards a bad MAF. This will really flip me out. Gotta thank 383taman and 6987stangs for stopping out today. I can tell you this and they can vouch for it, this car sounds sick!!! Before voltage drops to zero, it is real snappy and crisp.

I dont think for the fact that the meter worked perfectly with the 60's. But after a half an hour conversation just a bit ago with PRO-M, i feel better. They have changed the attitude 100% and are helping fully with this. Chris says that my tune is probably causing the problem. Currently I have a tune for 44lb injectors and it runs on closed loop. He is thinking that the system is trying to scale too much and going into a fault mode then hitting zero volts on the SIG RTN wire to the computer. Which actually makes sense. So now I am working on getting a start up file for the 80's and go from there. Chris wants that first then we can eliminate the tune.

I keep tellin ya that motor likes carbs lol

Yeah, I was real close to pulling the EFI stuff off and doing a demon 750 blow through carb. HAHAHAH I would have already made the back tires slicks by now doing 3rd gear burnouts. HAHAHAH

I went to the 80's so I would never need another injector again, ever. I have an 8" lower with a 3.33 upper pulley which will spin the blower to max impeller speed at about 6200. Right after where I will be tuning the engine for. The 8" lower gives better belt wrap and gets the blower wound up faster. All said and done it should be a fun car to drive. I know I sacrificed some low end with thew Vic5.0 intake but the added boost will more than compensate for that.

Upper 500's with a 347, TFS 190 Fast As Cast Heads, Victor EFI intake, & a Custom Cam, With S-trim spinning at max rpm......:tearsofjoy:

Your gonna have to leave the belt off of the blower to keep the power that low. If you crank that belt down nice and tight and see 14-15lbs of boost with your combo you "should" easily see 650-700 rwhp.

That combo could make 375-400 rwhp N/A so if you add 14.7 psi then you double your N/A power..... you do the math bud....:highfive:

Going with 15 hp/ pound of boost. Figured 14 psi, gives you 610 hp with 400 rwhp n/a. I would imagine an opened up engine would do better than 15 hp per pound of boost though, espesially intercooled. So yeah, Robs trying to be sneaky about this.:rotflol:

Yeah, I believe almost any shock will work. Juinor has Koni's and it works with his too.

I ran my Tokico drag struts with a D&D coilover, just check with the coilover maker to make sure but most should work with those.

The PRO-M meter is a f ucking pile of shit. Basically all I can say. Couldnt get anything more than .2 volts at idle out of it which is extremely low. So the idle is a bit higher than wanted. Its at about 900. I got scared and shut Dave down early. We only pulled to 5800. For a stock block thats far enough when your making over 500 RWHP. I am happy and the car is safe with three tunes in it. A street tune, a street tune with a little less timing and a closed loop tune for some better gas mileage on long trips like to carlisle.

Had I let him take it to 6200 as originally planned we would have gotten well over 600. Dave says this is a high 600 combo right now. The only limiting factor was produced by Ford. Thats next on the list to be changed. He also said I have enough fuel to feed an aircraft carrier. HAHA The A/F ratio was straight as an arrow and perfect. The sheet shows everything you need to see. No dips in the pulls, just straight up till I chickened out. :biglaugh:

When he was "cleaning" the tires, it blew a coupler off. I actgually forgot to tighten one up. Cant believe I did something so stipid. So we pulled the cover to get it back on.

You did a great job on the install and fabrication!

That was super cool of Bill to haul ya up there to the dyno!

Congrats on the new found power and I wanna see some 1/4 mile track slips next with the new wheel & tire combo you got!

Should see some high 10's @ 129-130mph depending on the weight of your car.

Good luck and dont go blowing her up before you get to the track....:biglaugh:

So far its not bad. It is nowhere near ready to top out. The graph even shows that. When I get a block it will be set on kill.

Thanks Bob. I agree 100%. So far, I have taken it up the street to see how it drives. It seems pretty good. Its just plain silly to drive though. For some reason, second gear is pretty useless. HAHAHA Dave had a few nice things to say about the meter too. HAHA If they had any pro tubes in stock one would have been on my car. They sold the last one they had yesterday and the order wont be there till Monday. Oh well I guess. Its good for now. Its done and drives. We were talking Big stuff or a FAST controller for my next set up.

HAHAHAH Thats the plan here Ron. Thanks for the compliments also. I am just glad its pretty much done. I have a few things left to button up like the interior. Not much though. Probably a good solid day and it could be done.

P.S. Behaving is going to be real hard with this thing. It fries the hides like they are 195-60-15's. Not 275's.

I should also say, my IAT's went from 187 last year with no cooler down to 105 this year with the cooler. Similar air temps too. Last time getting tuned It was 65* out. It was 67* at the shop yesterday. We kept timing right around 20* throughout the whole range. To say I now have a fun street car that can drive anywhere is an understatement. I wouldnt hesitate to drive this thing to Florida if I wanted to.

Brian, nice seein you again today. Its been a while. Thanks for the compliments also.

Frank, I can't even begin to tell you. The power is unreal. Too much for the street. When the drag radials warm up though it hooks pretty decent in second and plants you hard in the corbeau's. I have not stopped smiling in the last week. Just hope this header wrap quits smoking and stinking soon or else I will be getting some ceramic 1 7/8 long tubes.
