Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my 5.0 Mustang Header/Clutch Cable issue. I'm running a 347 with TFS heads and Mac 1 3/4 long tube headers. The clutch cable routes between the two header tubes causing the clutch cable to begin to melt, become stiff, and eventually sieze. I've been living with this issue for years but finally seeking ideas to correct the problem. Does anyone make a stainless braided clutch cable without a teflon lining? I've tried several types of clutch cables, FMS, Steeda, etc... They're all the same. I've attached a tread with some pic's so you can get an idea of what I'm working on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Thanks, Bill Pgh, PA

I wrapped the headers on my Olds were the Z-bar passed through them. That kept the heat off the Z-bar. It should at least make the cables last a little longer.

Re route the cable. It shouldnt go through the tubes. I also have MAC, or as some say, Make Another Choice, 1 3/4 longtubes. I dont run mine through the tubes and I used the DEI sleeve as you have on yours. I doubled mine up though. This year I wrapped the headers also. With the sleeve, I went all summer last year with no stiff pedal or locked up cable.
