Just reading through an old (Oct 09) MMFF mag and found this excellent article.

Recipe:

Boneyard 5.0L out of a t-bird - $100 (half price day)
ProComp 210 as cast heads - $540
Parker single plane intake - $125
Core charge for engine - $20
Full ProComp gasket set - $25 (LOL)
TFS Track Max Cam - $159
Procomp Roller Tip Rockers - $55
Hardened pushrods - $35
Total: $1064

Horsetrading: factory EFI stuff for 750dp carb and head milling to increase CR (now 9.5:1)

Results:

399fwhp @ 6000rpm
363fwtq @ 5200rpm

Now THAT is an impressive build that will fit almost anyone's budget!

Yeah, but try to find a Parker funnelweb intake these days ....

Showed that to my Boss and he is talking about trying it as a new engine for his 84 CJ Jeep.

They made it sound like they're pretty easy to come by.....but I've never had the need to search for one.

I don't disagree.....

The results are impressive none-the-less.

I'd rather be the guy bragging about what high-end parts my car doesn't have, than the high-end parts it does.

However, cheap chinese parts is nothing to brag about. :)

I refuse to buy any procomp or professional products junk. I agree its better to brag about how you made HP with cheap parts but I like to buy from the good ol' US of A.
