Anyone know of a good body shop to install a cobra grille insert on an LX body? This isn't going to be as easy as the GT where you cut a hole in the front grille and slip the insert in. It will take much more fabrication and some ingenuity to make it look good. I am also looking for a good painter to shoot the front clip after the cobra grille is installed.

Rick at Greater Pitt Body and Paint at the end of my road can do that for ya. He is reasonable and does nice work.

Thanks Mark. You know their hours? Are they open Saturday for me to stop by for them to look and give me an estimate?

Thanks for the reference Mark. I found the number on the Internet and called. Were gonna set something up as soon as I can be sure of a few nice days to get my car out of storage.

It's all good. I just called him and he just forgot.
I need to think about his estimate, but at least I have an idea.

Here is a before and after shot of a 2.3L with the grille installed. and his comments also (which I have NO clue what he is talking about)

"I had a friend do it for me. There is only one tool needed for the swap - a dremel tool. Without it, don't even bother. When I eyed the cobra grille to the stock, I knew just where to cut. My friend did the cutting, but looking back I think I could have as well. it was pretty easy to not mess up. Estimated length of installation would be anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes. That depends on installer skill, I think. One thing I want you to remember to tell anyone who gives the excuse about not wanting to cut out the Ford logo. The entire housing swaps out. The Ford logo should not be touched. So, again that's the twelve inches by 2 inches roughly of stock grille for the cobra grille."

What do you think a fair price would be to install this grille insert, remove the license plate, patch the holes from the plate and paint the front bumper and grille insert?

I would say anything between $350 and $500 would be fair. You have to remember that the paint is not cheap, nor is the prep time it takes to get it ready to paint, like filling the holes and blending the paint in with the rest of the car.
