Title says it all. In your opinon what's the best supercharger for a 5.0. I'm looking to buy one and I'm torn by vortech, paxton or ATI procharger. So you tell me looking to get car in low to mid 11's with a/c and all the options on my 90 lx :goodidea: This winter I will purchase a 331 shortblock for it.
Vortech is proven. Some folks have over 80,000 miles on them before they rebuild. That's in daily drivers too.

Agreed.
I've had a procharger and a vortech and both are great quality. Either way you go you should be happy.
If you go with an ati I would stay away from the self contained units.

Aren't some of the Paxton and Vortech units basically the same? At the very least they share some parts - like for the carbed applications, the enclosure for the carb is identical, except for the "Vortech" or "Paxton" name on it.
I have a Paxton Novi 1200 on my '66. I went with Paxton because, at the time ( 6 years ago?? ), they were pretty much the only ones that made a kit for my car, which runs a carbed 5.0. I love the Paxton unit itself, but I have to say that their customer service is absolutely horrible. They sent my kit with an EFI fuel pump ( for in the tank ), even though my kit is for a CARBED 5.0. I had to argue with them numerous times over the phone, then write them a letter, then send the EFI pump back, and wait for them to receive and process the return, then wait patiently for them to send me the correct indexed mechanical fuel pump that I should have received in the first place. It was quite a pain in the a$$.
Like I said, my car has a 5.0 roller cam motor with TFS TW heads, and a T5, 3.50 traction lock 9" rear. Of course, it has leaf springs in the rear - but I upgraded a good bit from stock with Global West leafs and Del-Alum rear spring bushings. Still, I'd think your fox would hook better. My Paxton is putting out 6-7 pounds of boost. It runs low 12's at 114 on ET Streets with a gentle launch ( 3000 rpms ) to keep from obliterating the T5. So with a harder launch you shouldn't have much trouble seeing the 11's, even with relatively low boost levels.
Good luck, and happy shopping!

I would get an exhaust driven one. LMAO. Might be more expensive but worth it.

I like all the Vortech line up and the Novi 2000 is pretty good too.

Make it a 427, you'll need an aftermarket block anyway :pepper:

Good idea J. We will see how this thing holds up come Friday morning. Sometime around 9:45 I should have the first pull done. If it stays together it should be impressive. Not going past 6000 though.

Ron, I think the best thing I will have as far as a camera goes will be my phone. Unless I can find the one my wife got a few months ago.

I has a D1 procharger on my 97 and loved it. Fit really well and worked great. The intercooler is so nice and an aftermarket blow off valve always makes it sound good
