Notch – 10/40 Full synthetic
Vert – 5/30 Full synthetic
66 Galaxie Full synthetic
54,59,64 synthetic blend
60 Ford gets regular old Wolfshead!

The rest probably have oil in them from the 60s..lol

I always just run the Wolfhead 5w30. It is one of the lower parafin oils on the market. Only thing I ever owned with synthetic was the Viper which came with 13 qts of Mobil 1 in it.

My feeling is as long as you change it every 3k miles (like you're supposed to) on a street car, using regular old oil will never be an issue.

Reg for 3 reasons

1. Easier for track clean up if something should happen

2. Syn will find every leak you didn't know you had

3. Cost with a 7qrt pan your talking some cash

I've only ever run mobil 1 synthetic 5W30 in my car. Now that I have a 7 quart pan, maybe I'll think otherwise.

Where is the blend option? I am using 5w20 Motorcraft Semi-Blend until I reach 5k miles.

Full snythetic (Royal Purple) for the Cobey...You don't have to change it as often (4,000 to 5,000 miles) and I just like having the added protection. Regular oil for the other vehicles.

I use regular in all my rides. I'm with Ed, as long as you change it every 3k or so you should be fine.

Oh yea! That puppy needs to be fully broke-in! I had a 429 (well 467) that had about 3k on it. As soon as syn went it, oil issues. Now my buddy runs it in south florida with full syn, no issues (has about 10k on it now).

i have seen to many issues with synthetic to ever reccomend it to anyone, i really do not like it at all. I don't care if it is worth .004 HP, it is not worth taking the chance...

thats because pennzoil breaks down too fast.... i worked at a 10 minute pennzoil place and seen many problems, alot of people would bring there own oil in.

I have never heard anyone have problems with synthetic oil. The biggest complaint I ever heard was if you already had a leak it will leak a little more, but synthetic oil doesn't cause the leak. I run it in my bike, mustang, and t-type and not one leaks oil. And any engine builder should know that you can't break a motor in on synthetic oil or you will have problems.

I swear by it because one time I snapped the oil pump driveshaft while racing and didn't know until I was on the return road and the lifters were tapping. I pulled the motor to check it and it looked like it did when I put it together. And my car is driven hard on the street and at the track. If you have problems I'm sure it's not the oil.

I use Castrol Syntec 5w50 in Stang and I put it in my Camaro before winter. Most other I use Castrol GTX. I bought some Buy One Get One at Advance of Penzoil and Quaker State, that Ive put into my S-10 Blazer. It will find leaks. I didn't know I had a leak in my 8.8, until I switched to synthetic gear oil and it leaked out. My jeep will be all synthetic, engine tranny, transfer case, and power steering. And will switch the tranny and rear in the stang after break in.
