Ok so I suck at shifting T-56s. Wtf. I can row through the gears in my GT like no bodys business but out of the 4 passes I made tonight I had ONE clean pass, I missed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on the other 3.

My 60ft was da bomb thanks to some pep talk by Lou and Mike. 7.45 in the 1/8th at 93.5 mph. And get this, a 1.56 60ft. Thanks Lou and Mike!

PS: I need a clutch now.

Some thoughts for you ...

What was the conditions when you ran your previous times versus last night?? Wasn't there, but the DA had to be around 3000' last night.

Regarding the exhaust, intake, etc ... If they weren't restrictions before, upgrading them won't gain you anything.

Myself, and several other's I know picked up nothing measurable with the Aluminum driveshaft. Yeah, it's lighter and less rotating weight, but you sure arent going to see it as a drastic thing. In my case the only reason it's on my car was to get rid of the 4 cylinder damper (think 12# shot put on the shaft). Difference here could be offset by gas tank level

Post up full slip data and that might point to something else ...

AdamantiumSilvr
07-24-2010, 12:09 AM
I ran two 13.9s and two 14.00s. I did add weight with the roll bar and subframes thou. But I also took some out by gutting my rear seat area and adding the aluminum driveshaft. Loggin the weather conditions and tire pressures is something I should most definately start doin. Some stickier tires um thinkin would help out a bit, and bein more aggressive outta the hole ta get those 60fts down.

We will have to agree to disagree then ... My last Spec 3+ was broke in like this one is being done and lasted 3 1/2 years, over 120 passes a year, all off the limiter with a side step and power shifting ... plus about 5K street miles a year. I'll break mine in ;)

I have to thank Bob Myers for all his help. His friend Chuck also. Without those two i would have not been able to get my best ever.
Now, my rear suspension is as ford intended. Stock arms with worn out bushings. Full weight car with a driver that has no idea how to drag race. Haha. I don't have my time slips with me here at work but from memory, here goes.
First pass was a 2.20 60' with a 12.99
second pass was. 1.79 60' with a 12.0?
third pass was. 1.8? 60' with my best et of 12.003.
I can taste 11's and will get it thursday. I am running out of gear real quick and probably losing good time there. I will have a set of slicks on for my next time which will probably give me the needed gear and the better 60' time.
All in all i had the time of my life. Thanks Bob and Chuck!!!

I offered to load up my 26-9.0 slicks and bring them for him ... I don't think my 26-10.50 DOT's will fit with his longer axles and the way his car sits. Hopefully if he gets his loop and torque boxes done he might be inclined to try some traction next week ;)

That one nice and fast car you have there Rob but I wouldn't be so fast as to say it will go 10's for sure. It has the potential but 10's aren't a cake walk unless you are adding more power. 11's is a definite though.

Once I get some good numbers on this and the year is over, I will be adding the final round of power to it. My main problem now is the gear issue. I need less or the taller tire. That will be taken care of this week though.

The gear is a 3.73. I was crossing on the limiter. It was at 7000+ I have not set it yet where it should be and I was hitting it way early. Seemed like I was on it for ever. HAHA I would have to guess probably 200' or more short of the traps. I have a couple sets of tires lined up to try. Its basically which ever fit is whats going to be on for thursday providing I get my t boxes done. One set is 26x9, another is 27-10.50 amd 28-10.50. The 28 will be ideal to give me the run I need and take the gear away. I want to pull all the way to the end. I really dont want to be on or near the limiter at any point. Its just too high for the stock block.

Didnt really do any weight saving stuff except the hood and heads. But those were trumped with the blower and intercooler. I did get rid of about 3 lbs of wires but added 10 for the battery in the hatch. Scraped the sound deadening so it evens out. Got Corbeau seats now. Thats a good bit of savings from the stock seats. Aluminum D/S. But then I added the extra diameter with the 13" brakes and the 11 5/8 rear disc.

wick

When you get a better tire on it and your able to get in the powerband more quickly you may see the 660' to the 1320' mph hover in the 27-28 mph range. Work on your 330' times and the 1320' will come around. And don't be overly concerned with 60' At times it can be too short of a distance to gauge what's really going on.

Your shift light has NO bearing on your rev-limit in your tune, chip, or msd box whatsoever. A tach mounted shift light is its own entinity and operates independent of everything else.

No shit!!!! If you would have read earlier you would have seen that my shift points were 6300 and the limiter came on around 7000. I simply raised my shift point.

But I am not the "professional 60'" drag racer you are and don't listen when to shift. But seeing as my car never stops pulling, the dyno graph shows that, i set my light to shift at the same rpm and not over spin the motor.

accuweather says 51% chance of rain from 6 to 9 so that means no rain because they are never right. Hope to see you guys there and watch Wick get his 11 sec timeslip not using one of Bobs examples. I am just trying to improve my 60 foot time need to knock it down below 2.1 hopefully the new suspension might help

Haha. Thanks buddy. I am sure i will. Bob warns me to make the first pass a shakedown run with the slicks. Said it can be real hairy if not used to them. I have never run them before.

Even if there are spills or anything, they'll be open til at least 11. :D

I went last week, only the second or third one I've been to this year, and it seems like everything went smooth, people got about 5-6 runs? I'm guessing the iffy weather may scare some people away tonight, should be able to get a good number of runs in again, unless it does rXXX

Love your new user title Mike :biglaugh: BTW - heard your double tap on the limiter 2-3 ... that was looonggggg.

Great seeing everyone tonight. I'm not going to steal anyone's thunder but lots of new bests tonight. Hot and humid, but that could have been the best startng line I've seen in a LONG time (race days included).

I got a lot of my tune stuff sorted out, just need to play with the logs now and piece it together and fill in the holes. Next time out, I'm on slicks, this off idle radial BS was crazy. I've never had shake like that.

Well bill and rob, if you think that leaving ar 7000rpm isn't balls then i don't know what is. Quit birching and come out!!! What happened to you bill?
Anyways, off of memory here. Missed the first two passes. Had to grind my calipers to get the wheels on. First 2 passes were basically a shake down. Those tires really make the car sway!!! Then i started ripping off times.
1.65 60' 12.15@113, i missed fourth.
1.50 60' 11.75@119, ask bob about this launch!!! I love it!!
1.52 60' 11.63@120, wasn't fast enough to second. My hand hurts.

All in all it was a great time. Whoever says prp sucks needs to stfu and come out. Stop with the running of the mouth till you try it.

PRP have scales? Would be good to check it.
Also, how was the stripe RPM? If you keep those 3.73s I still think you should try a 27-28" tire next.

Being on a sticky tire is a whole different experience. A LOT going on there. ESPECIALLY running a radial and a bias ply tire combo. Plus, dealing with the interference issue. It all came full circle though to the tune of 1.50 seconds! Big congrats! Can't believe those 1989 vintage uppers and lowers are still bolted to that 8.8" along with those horizontal shock like thingies:D
