It is a 4 x 4 black box under the passenger seat. It has two wires and a ground lead coming out of it. The ground is black and the other wires are red and yellow. The part number on the tag is E7ZF-AA-19A087. This is out of an 87 Mustang 5.0 LX. THANKS.

Picture would help. That is a Ford Part number, but there was never anything mounted under the Passenger Seat from the factory on a 87 Mustang.

i tried it there and it comes back with nothing. the E7 definately means 87.....however...normally the 'AA' is at the end of the number. i tried it both ways.

 Everything for the Lumbar is in the seat itself. Of the 30 or so of these cars I have torn apart, I have NEVER seen anything under the passenger seat!

i'll try to snap a pic later... mine was also screwed into the floorboard.

where i circled is where it sits. as for the amplifier guess? my car had the 7band equalizer too, maybe that could be part of it also?

Amplifier mounts to the tranny tunnel behind the radio. Refered to as the "football" because of its shape. I don't see why a equalizer would need a seperate remote box for it, but I have never seen a fox that had one in it. Did it have its own wiring harness? I haven't even ever seen a wiring harness that had an extra plug under the drivers seat.

BLKP42E is has the location right. That is exactly where the 'unit' was located. I will try to post a picture tonight. I also have the 7 band EQ, but I would be surprised if Ford put audio stuf under the seat. I agree, it should be on the tunnel.

Called Ford. Nice parts guy at Bob Davidson said... Number sounds right,...but no listing. He also said the the 19xxx seriers of numbers sound like AC or Heating parts.
Picuters are pending. I may also visit the dealer and Corral.net.

Consensus at MetroAreaMustangsandFords is that it is the amp for the premium Stereo. Pics pending for tonight.

Did your's have the EQ as well? If so, I guess I learned something new today! :cheer:

No....There was no EQ on the premium sound in 93. The 93 radio's are different than the 92 and down.
I did have the premium sound though.

Hugh? Wonder why they moved the amp from behind the radio on the tranny tunnel to there?

Probably because it is cooler there.

Probably because it is cooler there.

But this guy had it on a 87. Just doesn't make sense that Ford would have to modify 2 different wiring harnesses to put it there since all the wires were in the dash wiring with it mounted behind the radio.

I have never seen one of those before. Are there any other wires that hook to it other than those 3? There is no way it can be an amplifier with only 3 wires. :confuse:

The connector on it looks like the one used for a power mirror.

Those are the only wires.

Those are the only wires.

VERY strange! Any amplifier at least, needs a Power Wire, a Ground Wire, a Input and a Output. That's a MINIMUM of 4 wires. 5 wires would be more typical, with the 5th wire being a remote turn on wire from the radio itself.

I found the football on the tunnel when I removed the center console and dash. Still no idea what the box is.
