Anyone have any experiance with these? do they leak? are they hard to install? they're for a 1997 GT.

Don't have experience with those, but we put mac longtubes on my dads 98 gt and it was a pain. Only easy way really was to drop the k member. Was way worth it though in my opinion.

Contact Tim @ Rodeheaver's. He has done numerous sets of those headers.

BBK shorties are even more of a pain to install than Long tube headers. IMO your not going to gain much from shorties, and you would be better off to go with LT headers with a matching H or X. If you really have your heart set on a shortie header I'd go with JBA headers. There the only one's I've seen any real gain from the swap other than going to LT headers. And if you do buy BBK header, junk the header gaskets they give you and use OEM ford gaskets. BBK are paper junk that blow out while the OEM ford gaskets are metal and won't blow out.

ok well if i wont gain anything i just wont bother with headers because i really dont want to spend that much, long tubes and a matching h or x are expensive

Yeah you won't see much of a gain unless you go with some form of forced induction. NA its pretty much a waste for the money and time (i've seen gains of 2-5rwhp). I'm not sure if you have done the PI swap yet but if not that is a much better way to spend your money.

and if you do a PI swap your compression will go up as will flow and it is alot easier to stuff the headers in place with the heads off, make sure you figure in a new H or X pipe that fits the headers...

I dont know what i might do yet. i might do the unthinkable by betraying ford and buy a 05 or 06 GTO, but that wont be for awhile

If you are going to do that you might as well buy an f-body and have a faster car that doesn't look like a cavalier. The build quality is not so hot on the camaro's and t/a's but the LS-1 is a runner. You can make your car faster than a 99-04 stang simply with the pi swap due to the bump in compression mentioned above though.
