Hello SCS! My name is Greg, I am a friend of Johnathan (naste95). Johnathan told me how much fun he was having so I thought I would join. I have a junk 65 mustang and I like doing a little grudge racing or heads up street stuff. The car car is your basic sbf, auto, stock suspension (nothing special) car. A few of us are watching the PRP website hoping to see if they have some heads up street action so hopefully I will make it over that way and possibly meet some of you peeps, anyway just wanted to say hey..

Well, not sure what you want but it's a sbf, supercharged (can't really hide that fact) blow thru, c-4 (with a brake), 9 inch rear on stock suspension, 325/50 drag radials. I built the car from the ground up and have never had her on the dyno so I have no idea what h/p it makes.

The car was down for 2 years while we did some upgrades and converted from nitrous to supercharged. This past year was simply a t/t year and to get me used to driving a new car.

stock spring/damper arrangement upfront, or converted to coilovers or a strut setup? How about the rear susp....just a stock leaf setup or a custom leaf setup? You have to do anything to combat body roll?

Nice car....I like old school stuff

Sure thing, I will answer what I can.

Yeah, i had a 30mm cog and couldn't keep a belt on it so I am upgrading to 50mm stuff and gonna spin the blower a little harder next year.

Stock up front (that is the project for next winter).
I have the full Caltrac rear suspension with 4 shocks and the Caltrac monoleaf setup. I have a little bit of drop on the right rear but not much.

My best 60' last year was a 1.31 (with issues).

I've heard good things about the monoleaf....looks like a nice stance. I wanted mine to sit a certain way and thought the monoleaf would be too tall. I went with a set of narrow leafs from EPS out of colorado. I take it you moved the leafs inboard and tubbed it for 325's on a 64-66 car.

Nah, I minitubbed it and just notched the frame. I like the mono but it rides real rough. I used the spring sliders in the rear and made them so I could adjust the ride height a little.

Any chance you are getting bracket flex? You running renegade brackets? Are you running too much tension and making it walk?

I have a blower brace and a Kurgan brace. The problem is that I am putting too much stress on that 30mm belt. I called the guy from ASP and even he agree'd. i have all my 30mm stuff for sale and stepping up.

When i would run a 75/31 combo i didn't have any issues but when I stepped up to 75/28 i couldn't keep a belt on at all.

Love that '65! Drums or discs up front? Who did your cage? What's the front suspension plan? On my '66 I have Global West tubular upper control arms and the car handles great. Not cheap, but less than many of the newer coil-over setups. Also running the GW Del-alum rear spring bushings with the GW rear leafs. Ride is firm but not harsh, and the handling is great.

How about some engine pics?

I am not sure what I am upgrading to as of yet. I am worried the the tubular stuff won't hold up to the wheelie abuse so I just put a mustang 2 suspension kit under it. I did upgrade to the 68 cougar eliminator front disc a few years ago. I am not sure if I have a pic of the engine now that it's finished. I'll have to find one.

That's a good question. I am thinking (dangerous I know) that because every inch of my a/a cooler is exposed to the open air that my a/a will work better than one is covered by a big nose piece.

You guys know they moved the Milan race this year. They said it was to get some room around the NASCAR races. Between that and Norwalk killing their Ford race I look for Milan to be packed.

We have the schedules posted somewhere here, but they put the Joliet NMRA/NMCA Superbowl in June where Milan used to be.
I went to the first year when I was in Chicago, it was cool except the weather, which should be helped by the move.
Definitely going to NMRA Columbus and Milan, and NMCA/NMRA Joliet, NMCA Milan, and NMRA BG are all on my hopeful list.
My brother qualified for the quick 8 at the NMCA Milan True Street fastest street car shoot-out in '09 and finished 4th I think.

I agree, if you are not part of the in crowd at the NMRA the rules never seem to go in your favor, and I also have heard of several sponsors dragging their feet on payouts. I personally got tired of watching a mustang race a mustang. A few of us have hit some NMCA events and i raced a heads up class back in 2007 and really enjoyed it. It didn't take long to realize I don't have the coin to race a heads up season in the NMCA.

A few of us are planning on going to the Milan NMCA race to run T/S, we should plan a big get together that weekend.
